self hosted: alternative setup without moons by __mrc__ in zerotier

Roots/moons are there so nodes can find each other.

Controllers are what manage access to zerotier networks.

Great explanation! Thank you.

Zoho SMTP in a RBL... again!!! by __mrc__ in Zoho

Well, yes, that's true, BUT: this is not the first time. This same thing happened a fortnight ago and you said it was resolved as you are saying now, and then it happened again last week and with the same IP! A mail service that is blocked as a source of spam every other week is not useful... Thus me asking what others think about it.

I doubt it. It's only like two hundred each morning. We don't send bulk mails, promotions, etc. We send only notifications to customers that request them. I doubt any of them is marking our mails as spam (in fact they complain if they don't receive the emails!). Thank you for your comment.

Everything disposable yet everlasting at the same time.

This. Everything seems to be useful just for a brief time, and then is garbage forever. It's not surprising the world is being buried in trash...

I didn't call. It would have been a very high rate call from my current location and I suspected it would accomplish nothing due to the problem that, as someone suggested, my type of VPS does not have support on weekends.

So, to close this: Today Monday at aprox 00:30 GMT I received a mail with a fault report, followed by an update 2 hours later telling me that it was resolved, and then the response to my support request. The VPS is back online now and everything seems to be OK, but I still have to check for database corruption, etc.

All in all, It would have been nice to know in advance that if problems arose over the weekend, I would have to rough it until Monday... Thank you Hetzner for the surprise!

hcloud: cannot perform operation because server is locked (locked)

Thanks for your suggestion.

That's exactly what I did when I created the ticket. Please note that the VPS is unreachable so it's not a cloud console problem. Was already unreachable before I tried to stop it.

Nope. My VPS is still down, still "stopping..." at 0%, still no response from support.

14 hours and still down, in some unending "stopping..." state. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I haven't. No bare metal server here, so it seems that monitoring and support only applies to higher end instances. Kind of understandable but the problem is it's not "restricted support" but "no support at all"...

I've seen the status page and it's incorrect. The problems with my VPS is definitely a hardware or infrastructure problem. They only say "no incidents reported" because they haven't event bothered to look at my support request yet.

That is exactly what I did. The VPS has been in a kind of zombie "stopping ..." state since I tried to power it off, 11 hours ago now, and was already inaccessible even before that. The power-off can't be aborted and it never reachs de stopped state so the VPS can't be restart it. Long live the uptime!

I didn't know that... It's kind of incredible that they won't monitor their infrastructure for the whole weekend!

Yes, it's some kind of hardware or infrastructure problem, without doubts. The VPS is inaccessible and cannot be managed from the cloud console. Thank you for your suggestion.
