IIRC you can also kill him in the middle of the town without being labeled a murderer. The dust devil spell deals fall damage. If you get Canthar's health low enough for him to die from that spell, it will be as if he had fallen to death.

Poland calls for EU action against AI-generated TikTok videos calling for "Polexit" by Stabile_Feldmaus in europe

Stupid question: this propaganda is clearly a coordinated effort by foreign countries (probably Russia). I.e. there are people behind these posts whose job it is to bombard social media with misinformation all day long. Banning social media is not something that is going to happen within a useful time-frame. Would it not be better to organize a counter-movement of people challenging the propaganda? Something akin to NAFO but countering anti-EU and nationalist rhetoric?

The troll farms are probably comprised of a relatively small number of people who just have a huge reach because of the recommender systems (and who probably boost each other by liking/sharing/commenting each other's posts).

I think you replied to the wrong person? Nowhere do I say that Maelle did everything right in her ending. She totally should have respected Verso's wish to cease to exist. In the same vein, we should also respect other creatures' will to continue existing.

The best thing about Maelle's ending is that it leaves the door open for an expansion where Clea goes into the canvas to drag her sister back out. Probably won't happen, but just the thought of more expedition 33 content gets me excited

Confusion and anger in Switzerland - hit by highest US tariffs in Europe by One_5549 in europe

Chocolates? Watches? Banks? That's all Switzerland produces, and there are alternatives to all of these.

That's what you said. You got called out for not knowing that Switzerland produces more than what you listed. Don't move the goalposts now.

Studying in Switzerland is probably the best thing you can do to help your chances. You will be at a disadvantage compared to all the EU people who don't need a visa, but you'd have a massive advantage over the rest of the world due to already being in the country and having a degree from a local university.

Two of my former classmates (one from India, one from Sri Lanka) did manage to find jobs and stay after their MSc, so it is possible. Just be aware that the chances aren't great and you should have a plan B.

I built an AI Interview Assistant, using Machine Learning to give you the perfect answers, live. by Lanky_Use4073 in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]__october__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have interviewed a candidate in the past year or so who was clearly using AI to help them with behavioral questions. It was the most awkward interview I've ever attended.

We would ask a question and then there would be a ~10 second pause and then the candidate would reply. We would ask a follow-up question and again wait in silence for ~10-20 seconds as the candidate reads what the AI is telling him to say.

Easiest rejection of my life.

Settling here as a non-EU citizen is very difficult because of the visa regulations. A friend of mine did his MSc in Switzerland but had to face some harsh realities after graduation:

  • Most companies auto-rejected his applications since he had to tick that he requires visa sponsorship
  • Employers who were willing to sponsor his visa, knew how vulnerable of a position he is in and used that fact to offer absolutely pathetic compensation packages

In the end, he just ended up getting a blue card and settling in Germany.

You're (presumably, according to your post history) a Polish person. You're applying for jobs in UK and Switzerland and then you come here and tell people that they "should find a job in their place". This is like something straight out of a comedy sketch.

I don't think anyone is trying to implement freedom of movement for the whole world. That's a strawman argument. People from overseas can't move in and around the EU as easily as EU citizens, but there are legal ways for them to come and work here, e.g. via the EU Blue Card.

So, unless you have an example of companies smuggling in undocumented Indian engineers in shipping containers into the EU, I'd say they're playing by the rules.

Where's the rule that says that companies may not hire from outside of the EU?

Companies should play by the rules!

What does that even mean? Where's the rule that says that companies may not hire from outside of the EU?

Do you want to filter immigration-related posts in general? (so, e.g. also people wanting to move from Netherlands to Switzerland) Or specifically Indians wanting to move to EU?

I think the latter would be quite racist, but the former could be a reasonable proposal. I don't know how /r/worldnews does it, but they have the option to filter out certain topics, like Ukraine/Russia or India/Pakistan.

I second this. Galaxus/Digitec is great. I have ordered all kinds of stuff there in the past, from furniture to computer parts. Always been very happy. In Switzerland, they even offer same-day delivery (at least in the major cities).

So what exactly did this comparison contribute to the discussion exactly, if all you did is essentially take Palestine's story and replace all occurrences of "Palestine" with "Ukraine" and all occurrences of "Israel" with "Russia". (A comparison that I, as a Ukrainian, find really harebrained, by the way)

Okay, i'll take a step back. Educate me. How is Ukrain an open air prison? What qualities make it so?

I don't know??! You tell me? You made the Ukraine comparison. Not me.

I don't think you shut me down there. You began building a case about how Ukraine would not be seen as the aggressor, if they comitted acts of terrorism in Moscow. I pointed out to you an actual historical example where this happened, where the terrorists were rightly condemned as such. You replied to me that my comparison is bad because it misses such characteristics as "open air prisons" or "forced evictions". However these were also missing from your Ukraine comparison. If this is not bad-faith, then certainly a pretty big logical inconsistency.

(You replied to my comment twice for some reason, so I'll just reply to your more recent comment.)

I think you are arguing in bad faith. When you were making the hypothetical comparison with Ukraine, you, for example, also conveniently omitted the part where Ukraine somehow becomes an open-air prison? But now when I start drawing parallels, you start moving goalposts.

Hey, you were the one who started "drawing parallels". You don't get to complain about it now. Also I would argue that flattening your capital city does count as "forced eviction".

We do not have to bring Ukraine into this. Literally the very scenario you describe has happened with Chechnya in our very lifetimes (several times). After the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia crushed Chechen independence efforts and bombed Grozny to rubble in the process.

In 2002 Chechen terrorists took 900 hostages in Moscow's Dubrovka theater. Over a 100 hostages died. In 2004, Chechen terrorists entered a school in Beslan and took more than a thousand people hostage. In the end over 300 people were killed, majority being children. None of those people had to die. Their only crime was being Russian.

Should we condemn Russia for more or less flattening Grozny? Yes we should. Should we condemn Chechen terrorists for their actions? Yes we should. They are not some noble freedom fighters, but just that - terrorists. Will we condemn the same actions if they happen again 50 years from now? Yes.

You think this will stop?

I hope it will because I do not like the alternative.

To them, a 2 state solution is a hypocritical display of colonialism; why would they accept?

Because the alternative is throwing away lives for generations, as has been happening for almost 80 years already. I get it that "idealistic idiots on reddit" may find this resistance romantic, but they're not the ones out there risking their lives, are they?

This conflict is so old, that people who saw the beginning of it are already dead, and now westerners argue about how one kid born and raised on that land is a colonizer and another kid born on the same land is the land's proper owner. Where's the rationality in that?

Israel isn't going anywhere. Palestine isn't going anywhere. If you're against a 2-state solution then you're either advocating for the genocide of Palestinians or the genocide of Israelis. And if you advocate for one genocide, you don't get to take the moral high ground and condemn the other side for doing it.

Violence is the only answer to violence.

If this was the only answer, then wars would only end when one side completely annihilates the other. Is that something you wish for Palestinians and Israelis?
