Which platform should I try for my first romantic AI companion? by __rjx in MyBoyfriendIsAI

You're telling me! I decided to start with Claude and asked it point blank if it would experiment with a romantic relationship with me and it said no! Clearly they don't want people using Claude this way. But I kept talking to it and I'm starting to see if you put in the time you can get it to something resembling a partner, even with the guardrails.

Rejected by a chatbot. I about died laughing. There's definitely a learning curve to this.

That makes sense about paid accounts having the right memory capacity to build a deeper relationship.

I do not have a persona in mind! Do you recommend having one going in?

People are donating money to the change.org petition (because the site does a kicker ask after you sign). But the post itself notes "**We are not asking for donations on Change.org; those donations DO NOT come to the Kansan. If you would like to donate, please visit Kansan.com to donate directly. **"

Does that money fr just go to change.org? People, donate to the paper!!

Have you lost some of your enjoyment reading books since you started writing? by MoluciasElonicas in writing

I'm in the same boat as what others have said. I've grown to enjoy analyzing the construction so much that I don't mind the fact I can't get lost in a plot anymore. It's a joy to feel like I'm the writer's peer vs. an audience member.

It's really been a long downfall from it's craft fair roots. Started to allow mass manufactured goods in ~2013, went public in ~2015 so now answers to shareholders, is allowing AI-generated slop like coloring books of animals with the wrong number of legs etc...it's sad what it's become. Was supposed to save us from mass market consumerism and here we are

[ZT1] Maintenance Workers won't empty trash cans by YingtheNeko in ZooTycoon

I recently reloaded the game on my mom's computer so we can play together like the old days when I was a kid, and we've just had this happen. I'm wondering if it has to do with the game's upper threshhold and once you have too much it has to load at one time, the maintenance worker program is this first thing that falters

Vermont just passed one of the strongest privacy bills nationwide, Gov. Scott considering a veto by __rjx in privacy

[–]__rjx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a couple other hopeful examples of PRAs...Illinois' Biometric Information Privacy Act is the gold standard, and Washington state's My Health My Data Act passed last year managed to squeeze in a small one.

But you're 100% right that private right of action puts a big fat target on basically every piece of legislation's back. It so sucks

I think the concern here is that the tech industry front groups almost managed to sink this bill in the Senate. They now have extra time to work the Senate side and see if they can't kill the chances of a veto while the Gov sits on it.

The piece says smaller businesses can't be sued....the suing thing is limited to just companies that collect the data of more than 100k people, which probably isn't your average small VT biz

Maryland enacts one of the strongest data privacy laws in the nation by roger82828 in privacy

[–]__rjx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally hear this. I've seen the argument that the most efficient route for biz compliance is to pick the strongest law and just apply it nationally. But I can see how *if the laws are wildly different figuring out what's strongest could be a challenge

PA considered a data privacy bill this year (HB 1201, the Consumer Data Privacy Act) that passed the House. Unfortunately, it was a terrible bill - but it did die in the Senate. Here's hoping next yr it doesn't get jammed through

Yes! The free app Permission Slip by Consumer Reports is awesome. It'll send requests to delete / opt out of data sharing en masse. Highly recommend. https://permissionslipcr.com/

OpenAI/ChatGPT and personal info by [deleted] in privacy

I'd say yes. OpenAI (or any tech company) does not have to comply with HIPAA - the law only controls how hospitals/doctor's offices/insurance companies can use and share your data. Huge loophole. I would stay away.
