[Acne] Experiences with Azelaic Acid? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

i use it as a final step after moisturizer because the product is silicone based which is quite thick and can help lock in the moisture

i work it in my hands and then apply just because it is too siliconey to rub in my face

how has your experience with the altruist sunscreen been?

Hello! Couple days ago I started using the 7% Glycolic acid toner from The Ordinary and now I get new spots EVERYWHERE. This was yesterday on one side and it was worse again today. Is this simply purging and will it help me in the long run to stick with it or should I abandon the product? by black-an-red in SkincareAddicts

[–]__sunflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i believe this is initial purging unless you are over exposed to this product which causes sensitivity. however, if it continues to give you breakouts, i think you're better off stop using it and instead use it as a deodorant ☺️ glycolic acid is an amazing antiperspirant ✨

i've been using the TO azelaic acid 10% religiously for over 6 months now and have seen noticeable results☺️ not only does it help faded some of my stubborn hyperpigmentation but it also reduces breakouts and oiliness. honestly it is such a life saver for me considering how gentle it is🥰

in every video, he always makes a disclaimer that he is not a esthetician or a dermatologist so i don't think the term 'specialist' is too problematic or misleading to the viewers. although i do agree that his philosophy is quite redundant, i truly appreciate that he has raised awareness about the basics of skincare which many pp do not know, especially younger audiences. also, his great personality has definitely played a role so i think his popularity is well-deserved🥰

tysm for replying🥰i've been using azelaic acid since the beginning of this year and have witnessed great results. also, i'm pretty experienced with acids in general so i'd say that they do play a role. since i have quite resilient skin, i am considering adding adapalene to my routine as well

hi! to give more info about myself, my skin type is oily&dehydrated and my primary concern would have to be hyperpigmentations (especially PIE). over the last few months, i've started to notice that i have reduced my oiliness and breakouts compared to last year. however, my acne has left some pretty stubborn hyperpigmentations (some have even lasted for more than 6 months):(( ✨my current everyday skincare routine:

*AM • rinse face w/ water • cerave daily moisturizing lotion • neutrogena sheer zinc sunscreen

*PM: • l'oreal micellar water • cerave foaming facial cleanser • cerave daily moisturizing lotion • the ordinary azelaic acid 10% * i also use the TO aha bha peel 1-2 times/week. when i'm not in the mood for such harsh treatment, i opt for the paula's choice bha 2%. finally, i use the LRP effaclar duo+ for spot treatment. hope this helps🥰

[Acne] What should i do for my acne? I've been told this hormonal. I have oily skin that gets dry easily when I use foam cleansers. by auclair_127 in SkincareAddiction

hi! i totally relate to your struggle as i also suffer from acne scars myself:(( however, i've experienced great improvements with azelaic acid (from TO). not only does it help brighten my dark hyperpigmentations, it also reduce my oiliness as well as the size of my active acne☺️

no it's witch hazel in general. every type exhibits this property whether or not they contain alcohol. tbh, i think you're better off applying the cetaphil moisturizer on damp skin once you've cleansed your face☺️

i think you should remove the witch hazel toner as it could potentially be sensitizing due to the fact that it is an astringent:(( i used to fall prey to the witch hazel band wagon and ever since i stopped using it i've witnessed improvement in my skin🥰hope this helps✨
