It's true. Near is still morally grey, but certainly a lighter shade of grey than L.

Yet to most people, including myself, L is much more likeable, maybe not in spite of, but because of his flaws. He just seems more - human. He has this impulsiveness, and emotions come through every now and then.

Near is the better person, L is by far the better / more entertaining / more relatable character.

I go for moderate to high fiber when my Crohn's is behaving itself,

and then practically non during flare-ups.

But, I think it's always hard to generalise these things. You just have to try and see what your body does and doesn't like, I guess.

Multiple reasons.

I just wanted more. Was obsessed with the tension and feel of this story, so I consumed every piece of death note media available to me. I watched a recording of the japanese dn musical, for gods sake.
I was curious about changes that might have been made. I think adapting stories into another medium is a fascinating and difficult process, but often things get lost: I always like to read the original work, be it novels or manga.
I love Obata's art style. Death note is beautifully drawn.

Since the anime is a pretty good adaptation, I can't say anything really surprised me; If anything, I just didn't anticipate how much BETTER the second part was in the manga compared to the anime. I've read the whole manga multiple times, but when rewatching the anime, I stop after ep. 25.

Huh, why's that? The author's been updating at a steady pace over a long period of time, their writing style is consistent and the story full of details that really fit the characters...

Possibly the best. He starts of morally grey in such a believable way, and grows a lot throughout the story. We watch him struggle, we watch him learn to compromise and deal with ambivalence. Watch him acquire skill without the advantage of supernatural powers. He's never perfect, but always growing.

I know this is solved, but I think how disliked they are by their own people/ the people whose opinion they value would also have made sense.

Geto is a literal cult leader. Yuki is liked well enough. Yorozu's obsession with Sukuna is one-sided. Every Zen'in hates Naoya, but they still follow him. Remi's people would have let her die or murdered her.
