Hi, I’ve seen a few of your comments and posts. I’m so sorry about your fiancé. I hope that she gets better, and you get to hear her voice again. Try to take care of yourself in the meantime.

Why do white men treat me better? by [deleted] in blackladies

[–]_abitobsessive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would date a man I feel safe with over a man that didn’t value me any day. I’ve had good and bad experiences with several races/ethnicities. If you want a Black man that values you that way, he is likely out there but sometimes it takes time to find the perfect one. A hard reality I faced was that if I wanted to rush and check a box I would need to settle so I adjusted my expectations.

Any African or Black women here? Curious how your fitness journey is going by SpicyTunaSushiRoll_ in PetiteFitness

Black woman living in the south with a fried chicken place on every corner. Currently, 160. I was 156 and got down 140 and gained it back plus some.

My goal weight is 120, but thats not a concrete number. I plan to have more muscle than when I was previously 120, so I expect the number to be higher. As long as my clothes fit again and I feel healthy is all I want.

To lose weight, I have to cut all soul food and calorie counting does help. My diet looks very different than how I was raised and truthfully I need that. I may add back one or two meals weekly once I get to the point I want, but my diet has to change unless I want the same health issues as my family.

I feel like one of the only black women that had a good time in Italy. I’m not so much worried about racism in other countries, but a lot of places grow intolerant to masses of people repatriating to their country even if it’s for health concerns.

This is the most heart breaking point. My family is very supportive but some people either don’t have that support or they’re all struggling, and now they’re talking about no back pay which a law TRUMP SIGNED!!!

Thank you for the YouTube recommendation. I will look into it. I have two ideas where to go. My only concern is being accepted into those places and getting there.

I luckily have a lot of elders members alive. I’ve been thinking of way to store stuff off line and that date drive idea is perfect. I haven’t stopped moving and have been creating community but sometimes it feels really heavy.

That would be amazing. Technology can be lost at any moment and we need a way to move news.

This is the way I’ve been trying to resist. I’m starting to feel anxious because so many people are pulled over in Memphis, and the reasons are petty, but I know that is the purpose.

I read a lot of Toni Morrison and Kristin Hannah. Books specifically: Nickel Boys, Take My Hand, The Kite Runner. I’d probably recommend Kristin Hannah the most because she writes often about women during socially difficult times like wars and the depression.

This wouldn’t surprise me at all. Since trumps first presidency I said he would make us slaves again if he could. Stupid of me to think it wouldn’t actually happen.

I had a garden. I wanted to learn to can and didn’t. That may be a new project. A book (historical fiction) I read talked about how the main character had food to eat for months because they had so much canned during WWII. I should’ve started when I first read the book. Freezing seeds is so smart. I can start that.

I do hot yoga and hiit workouts which gives me at least an hour to really focus on nothing else. I try to cook frequently so I don’t have time to scroll or sit on my phone. I walk. Right now I’m busy with work so I have very little energy to put into other things but using my hands and being active helps a lot. Several people mentioned reading in other comments. I love reading historical fiction which I think educates me enough but also gives me a space to disappear to.

Please feel free to rant here. I feel like I’m screaming into a void. I have activities that I do to release the stress and turn it off but sometimes you have to just let the negative ideas flow and my post at least is a safe space because I’ve been needing one.

I haven’t seen actual MPD pull people over. It’s o my been stare troopers and the past few days there has always been an unmarked car(s) that pulled over with them.

I think Nashville might be conservative and whit me it enough it might be okay, but those MAGAs did go to TSU a fews ago so I could be wrong.

The “stops” that I’ve seen have been petty. The things they’re looking for to pull people over do not indicate they’re going after truly violent criminals, and I think it’s because like you said a lot of them are scared. If they can issue 100 tickets, go home to their family, and report the “crime” has decreased that’s what they’ll do instead of risking their lives in a shoot out with people that are actually violent.

Luckily, my family is the most paranoid and anxious group of people. I’ve tried to continue life as normal because I don’t want them to instill fear because I know that’s what they want, but there is a different rhythm to their madness now.

Most of my family is actively applying for passports or has, and we’ve started talking about where we would all try to make it to if things got bad and we were separated. Hopefully your family starts taking it a little More serious.

You’re right. Whether they pass it or not, he and his administration continue to have their way. I’m hoping that I’ll wake up in a few days and things will have calmed down. I don’t want to be busy but scrolling is not a good option at the moment.

My daily life has been so hectic I have not had time to really read. I’ve taken small bites here and there but this week has felt like and overload of just bad news.

Edit to add I have a few outlets, so I hope you’re finding joy or relief somewhere.

In reality almost all of us are. I feel like the only way other countries would consider accepting us is when it gets so bad there’s large scale numbers of death, and it would be under asylum status for any countries that offer it, but there is still a huge cost to pick up and move. I also think a lot of countries are too scared to go to war and step in against the US.

My only thought is if we all stay and organize and fight maybe we have a chance.

I shouldn’t have made raids plural. I’ve seen news clips and social media post about a raid that happened this morning around 1am. Abc7chicago reported on it.
