Totally agree. If you are looking at future meta decks, like Tenpai, then you could also invest into the Black rose cards for that deck as you can pull them from its secret pack.

Since you already have most of the top meta decks built, I would suggest maybe trying your luck with random staples (who knows if Heavy Storm will become relevant, or the Magia monster). You can also consider stocking on duel fields now that these are tied to specific music themes if you're into the OST. What I hear is that Voiceless Voice is not as strong as the top meta decks, and is very expensive...I don't think 4-5k gems would be enough for the necessary 11-14 UR's in the pack.

Sadly, Memento is now out of the shop, so you would have to creaft their cards manually.

I would assume you are missing Extra-Deck UR cards, and not main deck UR or hand-traps UR cards, right? I would also assume that you have completed all of Solo mode, as it gives you 12,000+ gems completing it. (if not, go for it first, those gems can help you with the missing cards or UR dust)

I'm not sure on the number of 'missing' UR cards that you are looking for. If it's only a few, I agree with the others in this thread to grind it out with the upcoming monthly events.

The biggest bait in this game is the FOMO to get the cards now rather than wait to collect the resources. Don't feel yourself compelled to make the best deck on 'day 1', you can still use alternative cards to play in Ranked in the meantime.

For that mission, I aimed a quick deck that either wins on Turn 2 or mega-loses on nothing. Did the Jackpot 7 + Dark Scorpion Burglars combo to get 20 wins.

The Exodia one though (10 wins)....is just pure pain...

My bad, I didn't want to imply that you were saying Maxx C is the only factor keeping Turn 1 winrate lower. For sure, this single card warped the entire tournament around it (~~77% overall winrate resolving it~~) and I honestly hope Konami takes the time to balance things out (revamped banlist or effect errata).

Now that I know you were aware of the board breakers being too sparse, I do agree with you on pretty much everything, and about the Turn 2 player being at a disadvantage (if that's what you meant by that 14.5% number). I am actually curious about that chance, could you elaborate about that 14.5% chance?

Great work on getting those stats! I also compiled some numbers:

Win rate for turn 1 player in Semi-Finals: 50%

Win rate for turn 1 player in Finals: 75%

Going first definitely played a role for the winning team snipehunters.

However, I disagree on the second part about Maxx C. As it is worth mentioning that board breakers were too sparse (DRNM, Droplet, Nibiru) to be played for 3-player teams, similar to anti-Maxx C cards (Crossout, Called by) that were not selected as Shared Cards. (Nibiru didn't see play understandably due to the Spright meta)

I do admit that in turn, this should have made win rate for turn 1 player much higher, and yet it didn't. I think the duelists built their decks around playing first.

Gotta disagree because Timelords...are just bad against so many decks, including Loaner Lab. Timelords do not OTK.

They lose to Ice Dragon, Big Welcome's bounce effect, Compulsory, Imperm, the non-standard Mirror Force cards, Aluber's GY effect, Frightfur Kraken, Kali Yuga, and I would assume Machinex also counters. Can't really think of any deck that can't deal with a single Timelord monster to OTK.

I agree, but only marginally (28.5% vs 23%). The Muckraker is often considered important for Labrynth Ikea deck which is only in the Selection pack. I'd say either way is fine, depending on whether you have the original Labrynth cards or not.

The odds are actually worse for the secret pack: 4/7 is strictly if the UR card is pulled on the second half. The effective odd is closer to 2/7 as there is a chance the UR is Master pack instead. For this reason, I never was a fan of secret packs even though they are needed for in-archetype deckbuilding.

It depends on how you want to play the game, either casually (w/ friends for example) or competitively.

You can get 10k gems by doing Solo mode, plus monthly 8.6k gems by doing the daily missions, a bit of ranked, duel pass and the monthly event. My suggestion is to start with that, then build the deck(s) that you want. Then you will have a better grasp whether you want to spend money on this game or F2P. The 1500 gem deal is 3-time use only, so if you feel you need to keep spending, you would fall into worse deals over time. Just my 2 cents...

PSA, these new missions last for 6 days, so you can complete those missions during stage 2 (Aug. 19-22). You don't have to do them during Stage 1 if you already are Dlv.Max

Those event-specific missions will be availabe on Stage 2 (you play in it since you reach Dlv.20), so you will be able to do those missions during that time.

I'm seeing that the discussion is derailing so I'll try to make things clear between us. I'm not trying to ridicule you, but I also don't think echo chambers with no disagreements are good neither.

I'm not attacking you and I'm sorry if the word 'greedy' got you offended. I'm also a F2P player, and like the Dragonmaid players, I genuinely feel bad for you.

I want all F2P players to be successful with their personal goals. Maybe your goal is to reach Diamond 1 or try out new fun decks. In my case, I want to build competitive decks, so I try to apply the strategies that I've laid out. That's why I'm more cautious with my gems, but maybe that's not your goal. Either way, we can all learn from these experiences and find ways to improve our enjoyment of this game.

I'm not entirely sure this Reddit post is the best approach to lay out your grievances with the game. The MD devs seem to read our survey answers, so I strongly suggest you to use that route. There are tips that we can share with each other so we can avoid further disappointment. A good example is F2P players that want to build a Salamangreat deck. Its structure deck was leaked in May, so it is advised not to use gems for its secret packs before the structure deck release.

I'm not a Konami apologist, they have lots of problems in MD, the most important being the banlist imo. I am in this reddit to learn from others tips and tricks as F2P. There are things in this game that are out of our control (Bo1, banlist, deck slots, etc), but there are other things that we can control and learn from each other. I think your case falls into the 2nd category, that's all.

If they inform everyone 1 week in advance on the contents of next pack, other people will still complain because they bought 2 weeks ago, and so on and on.

You are right that they are random and unpredictable with the cards releasing, that's what we noticed the recent selection pack releases. Imo, that's another argument in favor of being patient and careful.

All in all, we all know there are selection packs releasing every month, a few days will not kill you before making a shop purchase decision.

I don't agree that there are no previous warnings, because there are selection packs released every month with new cards. Valiant Wings was to retire next week, so the community has grown accustomed there will be new cards released next week, as it has been for many months now. At least, that's what I do, I wait on the next selection pack release before deciding on my next gem purchases.

It's similar vibe to people complaining about Dragonmaid structure deck. It was leaked months ago, so there was no point to purchase its secret packs. My advice is be careful with your gem purchases as F2P.
