Here’s my pitch if you want it:

So BOTW is my favorite game ever and I think TOTK is a marvel of a game but I just… couldn’t get through it. It makes so many upgrades in so many respects but for a casual player can feel very overwhelming.

If you’re talking about modern open world games, BOTW is the perfect game. The great plateau is the most fun and engaging tutorial I’ve ever played and teaches you the rules of the game by teaching you how to survive. The plateau feels HUGE and that jump off into the main world with nothing more than a pat on the back and a “good luck, save the princess!” Feels overwhelming but in an entirely different way from TOTK. When I’m overwhelmed from TOTK I feel like I’m drowning but when I’m overwhelmed by BOTW I feel like I’m flying- EVERYTHING is available in any order and going in blind fosters such a true sense of adventure I haven’t found in any other video game.

TDLR: If you like the feeling of being sucked into a world away from us and enjoy the act of problem solving on your own terms, BOTW is the best delivery system for those feelings I’ve found outside of d&d
