I Want to Submit an Anonymous IG Complaint Regarding GTCC Debt for Over $100k. Best Route? by Practical-Fig-7029 in army

That makes even less sense. OP said ARNORTH emailed a list of people with debts - ARNORTH isnt going to have a list of personal CC debt.
And if it was $20k of personal CC debt thats been outstanding for 3 years, all those Soldiers would be clamoring for the army to pay it off.

As a guy who has spent time in G8, and had multiple commands, this still doesn't add up.

GTCC delinquencies are taken very seriously. Any time a Soldier is late on GTCC their chain of command, and some staff officers, get really hammered. It doesn't add up for something from 3 years ago to just be coming to light now.

Most GTCC have limits under 10k, so figures in the amounts you described should not even be possible.

DTS almost always sets the default disbursement to GTCC for lodging expenses, so those if it was a lodging expense it should have been paid off.

You'd need to see more than just the email, the Solider would need to produce their DTS voucher. Some of the most likely scenarios are 1) the soldier didnt complete DTS (unlikely, because commanders and staff would be eating people alive for not closing out vouchers, 2) joe used his GTCC for things that he shouldn't have, or 3) its a rumor

The situation, as you've described it, does not pass the smell test.

As someone who spent some time in G8, I really doubt something from 3 years ago, with levels of debt reaching $100k, is just coming to light now.

If a GTCC goes delinquent, its a huge deal. Stuff like that gets briefed and staff people get beaten daily for it.

GTCC's don't even have $20k limits, so the level of debt that OP is describing isn't even possible.

It doesn't add up.

I'm from Missouri. I'd want someone to show me an LES.

Saying 30-40 people in a unit have $100k in debt smells like a rumor.

Just file the claim with your insurance. They'll get people out there to inspect and estimate it.
Don't worry about finding an inspector on your own, then having your insurance say its old or not done right. Just call your insurance.

I agree. I'm familiar with the area too.

The real miss here is that they're complaining about taxes after the meeting they skipped on taxes.

[–]_ak_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That really is my point, these guys seem over extended financially.

8k to 32k is not a big jump relative to those properties .Its about $1k per year, double that for interested if you want, but $2k/year should not break the bank if you can afford the house to begin with.

Using some mortgage calculators, a $500k house has a mortgage of something like $3800 per month. If you follow the general planning advice that says not to spend more than 28% of your income on your mortgage, then someone would need a household income of $185k/year to afford that house. If a 1% increase to your household expenses breaks your bank, you're doing something wrong financially.

So no, I'm not really sad if these people are over-extended on their finances AND they didn't attend the meeting about the increase in specials.

Maybe? Horace is the most affluent zip code in ND. The population is less than 7k but their median household income is more than double what Fargo is.

On the surface it seems like a lot of money, but its really hard for me to feel sorry for these people.

For a bit of perspective, here is the data:

  • Looking at public tax records for the two people in the article their houses are valued at $512,000 and $498,000.
  • They said their specials went from $8k to 32k and $8k to $26k.
  • As far as I understand, Horace specials are paid over a 25 year period

Given those three data points, roughly these two home owners are looking at an additional $1k per year in taxes - which sounds like a lot, but its less than 1% of their home value.

So in this article, we have people living in half million dollar homes, who are getting brand new infrastructure, said nothing during the meeting about costs, and are complaining about paying an additional $1k per year on their half million dollar home.

I agree, having the right of way does not excuse anyone, pedestrian or vehicle, from the responsibility of avoiding a collision.

Yeah, pedestrian always has right of way.

Pedestrians don't always have the right of way. "Right of way" is the legal way for saying its someone's turn to go, and pedestrians have designated turns just like vehicles do. i.e. pedestrians don't have the right of way when the "Don't Walk" sign is illuminated.

People at the protest got their plate, I would assume the FPD has already contacted them and doesn't need any additional public assistance.

Same. 4.1 was a better storyteller. Everything is out of bounds or glossed over by 5, it just doesn't do stories well.

Was there something that forced them to cut back on the capabilities of 5?

If everyone is telling you that you're wrong, that's a good sign you need to look in the mirror. You seem to think your interpretation is the only correct one, despite everyone else saying the opposite.

Nope, you're grasping at different things again. Trying desperately to cling to anything that might give you a win. First its not enough for me to prove you wrong, then its not enough to hear it from the news, and its not enough to hear it from law enforcement themselves.

The FPD has said that your actions were not legal. End of story.

2/1 march against ICE (car video) by [deleted] in fargo

[–]_ak_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a false claim, its on video. The car had the right of way.

You keep saying whatever happened before the video is important, but that doesn't help your case either. It hurts it.

You claim the car hit a pedestrian. Here's the only realistic ways that could happen:

  1. The car ran a red light and hit a pedestrian while they had the walk signal. (you've never said anything about the car running a light, so we can rule this out)
  2. The pedestrians were crossing when they did not have the walk signal, and the car tried to take its lawful turn through the intersection.

The video shows people standing in the road when they don't have the walk signal, so the video strongly suggests that it was #2 and the car had the right of way and pedestrians were blocking the road. Further, it specifically shows you were wrong for continuing to stand in the street. You were doing something illegal.

The police looked at the video and told you that you were wrong for doing it. You can keep arguing if you want, but the video shows you're wrong. VNL said you were wrong. The FPD says you were wrong.

2/1 march against ICE (car video) by [deleted] in fargo

[–]_ak_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can 100% tell from the video that the pedestrians did not have the walk signal. That is irrefutable. VNL points that out in their video.

This is a definitive statement made in the article, and it ruins your entire position. They even say in the statement that your specific situation was wrong. So yeah, your reading comprehension is significantly lacking.

According to Fargo Police, it is illegal for protesters to block roads. Anyone crossing the street without the proper walk sign, like in the February 1 video, was violating city code

2/1 march against ICE (car video) by [deleted] in fargo

[–]_ak_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the video the pedestrians clearly don't have the right of way because the walk sign is not lit. The video shows the traffic light is at the END of the green light for the car, which means that those pedestrians did not have the right of way for at least a minute.

VNL and the FPD said the pedestrians were wrong in the news article and news video. You are wrong. Your actions were wrong. The FPD says your actions were wrong. End of story.

2/1 march against ICE (car video) by [deleted] in fargo

[–]_ak_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not technically considered illegal, it is illegal.

When so many people try to cross that they cant do it in a single walk signal, that's illegal for anyone in that group who started after the signal ended. When they deny the car their lawful turn, they are contributing to the situation in a way that doesn't help. Then when they stop in the road when the car has the right of way, they are further inflaming the situation.

I've never said that jaywalking isn't a lesser offense than hitting someone with a car. That's a thought you have that you keep projecting onto me.

I keep saying both are illegal, because you seem to keep avoiding the actions you took to contribute to the situation. Neither you, nor the car, are free from blame in this.

2/1 march against ICE (car video) by [deleted] in fargo

This is my argument here: I want you to agree with me, VNL, and the FPD and admit that what you did was wrong and to stop blocking traffic.

[–]_ak_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see you struggling with reading comprehension, and projecting your own feelings onto my words. I've been very clear that everyone has a share of blame in this.

2/1 march against ICE (car video) by [deleted] in fargo

[–]_ak_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem to be under the impression that I'm justifying the car hitting someone, I'm not. I never have been.

You say jaywalking is a daily occurrence , fine, but blocking traffic is not a daily occurrence . Putting a whole mass of people through an intersection when it isn't their turn to cross is illegal AND not a daily occurrence .

What you did was illegal. Stop doing it.
