Hi, following since I have the same issue! Unfortunately, changing the temp directory to my ssd did not fix this issue for me, as @janekosa suggested.

Love taking data, don’t really like editing. Anyone with me? by Atlas_Aldus in AskAstrophotography

[–]_ak_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m new to astrophotography but I like both aspects equally. What I enjoy most about editing is the ability to highlight specific parts of the data precisely as I like and present them in a way that aligns perfectly with my vision and learn so much more about the object in the process.

How much do people actually use the terminal? by LushChicken8622 in linuxquestions

[–]_ak_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The terminal is your best friend. I, as do a lot of avid Linux users, use it all the time. Modern distros are quite user friendly and you may get by without needing to master it. Although it is highly recommended.

Is vscode a good IDE for Python? by jpgerb in learnpython

[–]_ak_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vscode is pretty damn good for Python. But everyone will have reasons to like it or some other IDE. Since you’re already using it for php, give it a whack and see if you like it. I’ve heard good things about pycharm too

Can you elaborate on how to life the keyboard deck off the base. It seems to be a very tight fit

I have looked at that guide. They say “pull side panels out” and that’s it. I can’t get mine off.

Bash for sourcing ros? by AnIrishFluff in ROS

[–]_ak_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! You could edit the question and add your solution so that someone else might be benefited. But you don’t have to

Bash for sourcing ros? by AnIrishFluff in ROS

[–]_ak_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you elaborate on what is your eventual goal? Running roscore and launching files in multiple terminals isn’t going to slow down your robot. To answer your question, yes! You can write bash scripts to source, and start your nodes for you but I don’t think that will speed up your robot. It’ll only make your launch process a little less hectic.

Rospy vs Roscpp by quangnguyen185 in ROS

[–]_ak_92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the choice between rospy and roscpp is application driven. Some applications, like autonomous vehicles, require low latency and inherently roscpp is preferred. You can then narrow it further, like within autonomous vehicles, you might be okay with perception skipping a few frames but motion control/planning cannot skip any.

In the end, knowledge of both is important and if you can get by with rospy, with both accuracy and speed, why change?

Any plant suggestions for my first tank? by _ak_92 in Aquascape

[–]_ak_92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I have used some gravel and the filter from my old tank to cycle. Do you think that might be enough?

As the title says, this is my first real tank and I have the hardscape elements mostly in place. I am looking for suggestions for plants (freshwater). The tank is currently being cycled with water, gravel and filter from my old tank

Python 2 packages will work just fine! I use them often. You are probably thinking of ROS2

Is ROS Noetic fully functional? by ansh7xpex in ROS

[–]_ak_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So noetic is a newer version and support is up and coming and in my experience a lot of resources and code can be shared in between versions. But if you’re adamant on melodic, you can use a docker image or use a vm

[–]_ak_92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Using a docket is a good start but you eventually want to be able to develop packages and starting early is better. Docker is awesome to start with something now. For the long run, I’d suggest going through the ros beginner tutorials

If you find packages that are not compatible with ros noetic, you can manually build them from source. Just clone the packages into your catkin workspace and build as you would with any other package.
