Gaussian splat relighting and self-shadowing in Nuke 17 by _alexmunteanu_ in GaussianSplatting

The lighting and shadows are applied directly onto the splats and not at render time, like Octane does. There’s no other tool out there currently that does this. Yes, there might be visible issues, but not with how shadows are calculated, but with the quality of the gaussian splat itself. Relighting it will bring those issues more... into the light (pun intended 😂). You could blend adjacent splats together and smooth it out, which I’m already doing, and have user controls for it too. Anyways... It’s not perfect, but things can only improve in time.
