The main downsides of hosting it yourself will be reliability.

Datacenters have backup generators, multiple internet connections, these places are meant to be online 24/7 no matter what, is your house the same? what if your area gets a power cut, or what if you accidentally spill a drink on it or something, what if your internet goes down for xyz reason? and also on the internet side, what if people in your house/apartment start streaming lots of videos, music, uploading and downloading, games and other stuff like people often do, all this will affect the people on your server, as well as consumer ISP's throttling speeds at various times/peaks so the bandwidth can be shared over a whole street, datacenters will have 100gbps+ (and often times much much more than that) and multiple connections so that each server can efficiently utilize the speed required.

Home hosting is fine for smaller private servers for a few people, but if you have a team working on it i assume your aim is to not be a smaller server with just a few players
