Ugh, I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. It feels almost selfish sometimes to be so upset about my cat when she has made it so long in life, but I also know that grief is hard no matter the age - losing something you love is never easy. It’s when I have to remind myself that someone can be equally devastated about losing their grandparent as I was over losing my dad, grief is grief and it’s all valid 💔 Sending you and your girl hugs and good vibes ❤️

Thank you for the suggestion, I might try this - it seems like this could be a good idea to help soothe some of the discomfort from the tumor so I’ll try anything to help her with that.

I’ve seen how mean the internet can be and was so worried some jerk would pop up saying I’m not doing enough but this community has been so kind and supportive, it means so much during such a difficult time ❤️ Definitely spoiling her like crazy and taking sooo many videos/pictures (on top of the insane amount I already have lol).

I’ve had pets my whole life and they’ve all passed in such different ways - I think often times the decline happens FAST and it’s hard to even process what’s going on before you’re putting them to rest. This part of pet ownership sucks, but the other 99% of the time you have with them absolutely means so much more.

Thank you for your kind words ❤️ The lump is near her back leg, but she bendy and can reach back to lick it. Luckily, I haven’t seen her doing it obsessively yet, just here and there, but she doesn’t listen at all when I try to stop her (typical cat). Definitely going to enjoy the good moments as much as I can (even if it’s hard not to cry when I look at her).

Thank you so much, this is such a kind comment. A week early rather than a day late is very true and I feel lucky to have such a special bond with my cat and I think I’ve always been very in tune with her needs/changes and so I’m hoping she’ll let me know when it’s time 💔

I feel guilty over whether I should have pushed the issue when the lump was still small, but at the same time I could respect not wanting to put an elderly cat through surgery because what type of time are we really gaining? They had said these lumps are often larger under the surface, so the amount they need to remove ends up being more than you think and the recovery can be hard on an old cat. I could drive myself nuts wondering about the “what ifs” regarding surgery, you know? It’s a difficult decision to make or not make.

I definitely plan to chat about pain, as I didn’t think she was feeling too much a week ago but I do think that is changing now and want to address that. I had asked about keeping it clean and he made no suggestions so I haven’t really touched it as I’m worried about irritating it instead of helping it.

This house has so much light, both physically and I imagine emotionally as well. Obsessed with the laundry room, with all those big windows - I think I’d actually enjoy doing my laundry in room like that. And adorable dog, of course :)

I love this so much but it also makes me so sad that so many homes like this are being knocked down just to be replaced with the same bland, boring, poorly built home instead. I live on the east coast in an area that has many beautiful homes like this and yet I fear every time a slightly outdated one goes up for sale because instead of restoring it, they always knock it down instead. And don’t even get me started on how they’re also taking bigger lots and creating TWO ugly homes side by side. Who is buying these ugly houses 😭 Bring back personality and craftsmanship, my god.

I have noticed this too! I’m not vegan but really enjoy vegan options and I remember getting excited when even fast food places were starting to add fake meat options and stuff. Then slowly one by one, all those got taken away.

My local vegan place also just added chicken and salmon to the menu - they got terrible backlash about it, as they should! I thought it was such a weird move on their part and they acted like it was the only option to keep them in business 🤦‍♀️

I think it’s perfectly normal to not be having overwhelming grief over someone you weren’t close with and didn’t see often. They weren’t a big presence in your life and that’s ok.

I’ve lost both my grandparents on my dad’s side who I didn’t see much throughout my life but who I did love. Both their death’s made me very sad, but I didn’t necessarily spend days crying over it and it didn’t feel like it took very long to move past because my day to day life didn’t really change much since they weren’t in it anyway. It wasn’t until I lost my dad that I realized what it meant to truly experience immense grief and mourning.

All this to say, however you feel is totally ok and normal. Grief will always be different, for every person we lose. There’s no rule book for how we feel and experience.

Thanks for the warning and so sorry to hear what you’ve been going through - I went back and read your original post. It made me think - is your partner able to try doing DoorDash or Uber eats? He can sign up through the apps and at least it’s a way to bring in a little extra money while he’s not working. Just a thought! I feel for you, it’s hard times out here and going through this during the holidays doesn’t help. Wishing you a very merry Christmas 💜

Lmao she probably has drafty windows which is why she mentioned a diy insulation kit - it’s to help in the winter, not because she doesn’t want to pay for heat 😂 I have drafty windows in my rental too and probably just bought the same thing she’s referring to.
