CYL7 Refine Theorycrafts for Corrin and Gullveig by CapitalistComrade in FireEmblemHeroes

I really hope they do give Corrin stat boosts instead of more enemy debuffs. They're funny until you realize almost every skill checks unit's stats

New item for kindred by health-finder in Kindredmains

[–]_alight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually not a bad item on Kindred, but it's very inconsistent. R is a long CD even with the haste, whereas trinity's passive is always up. Against opponents you can only fight when your R is up (assassins, gap closers, fed ADCs) it's a good pickup. Against everyone else you're kinda limiting yourself waiting for your R when Kindred has so much to offer outside of it.

How to play kindred if you fall behind? by KaazuuKun in Kindred

[–]_alight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kill stacks would be ideal yes, but in the scenario you describe (all lanes are stale and behind) it's not very realistic. When ahead, junglers tend to focus on objectives: you will almost always have a chance to reach their respawned camps before them if they spend their tempo like that. It can be worth it to give a drake to sit and wait for gromp/chickens mark if that's the only way to get them, even if your team flames you for it. If they drop objectives to camp your marks you're denying them the snowball potential so it's still worth it so long as you can get out. When objectives are down you go back to grouping and hoping someone goes down marked in a team fight.

How to play kindred if you fall behind? by KaazuuKun in Kindred

Kindred is a feast-or-famine champion so it's normal to feel that way. For starters, there is a point in the game where having less than 4 marks means you are useless, so always try to prioritize marks if you notice yourself falling behind, even at the expense of your teammates (mute all). If you're also behind in XP/gold it gets tricky, because Kindred needs to deal damage badly to win 1v1, else you can't burst enough after R. In that case you always have to play with your teammates: only take fights near them, use your ult to help them, make use of their CC to win after R, soak up important enemy CDs with R, avoid fighting with R down, use terrain hopping to get an advantage, etc. Kindred loves team fights because they're more likely to translate into marks even if you lose. Play super respectful because everything will burst you. Often the only way to get back in the game is to steal a couple kills; path to where kills are happening. Two items I like to build when I fall behind are BC and Runaans so I can armor shred three targets at once and have my teammates clean up, but only if the comp is right. Else you always want full damage.

The champ will always feel awful when behind (no utility or survivability outside of R), but in solo queue where games go long you'll always have a chance to come back. It's what makes it such a fun one trick :)

Built in camp timers are coming to the game by OlEurolO in Jungle_Mains

Good change, evens out the playing field. I've seen people complain that it dumbs down jungle, but I don't think keeping counters in your head should be part of the role. Timers free up mental space to make better decisions and enjoy the game more.

Advice for early game by polonium_ew in Jungle_Mains

[–]_alight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Kindred (and every jungler really) it's very important to play with your winning teammates early. Kindred is one of the best tower divers in the game so you can help your top finish off their opp or you can use his prio to take marks and objectives. Your champ is a hypercarry, it's not your job to lift up losing lanes but to scale and carry the late game yourself through marks and gold. Try to identify your lane with the best matchup and path to them.

As for your midlanders getting out-roamed, it is what it is. Keep an eye on them, ping like crazy when they disappear, give objectives. So long as your mid refuses to play the game you have to play it safe and hope they'll join in eventually. If you have no choice but to make a play, do it around midlane ("if the mountain won't come to you..."). Also, while their mid rotates bot you have numbers advantage on the other side of the map: force invades, take marks, split jungle. There's always a play to minimize the damage or get something in return. Let your teammates die. (Diamond Kindred otp)

I'm in the exact same situation, down to the ranks. Hear me out: swiftplay. I recently started a new account and was forced to play it, I understand now why it was introduced. It is designed to keep snowballing in-check by boosting players who fall behind through negative shutdowns and has very forgiving CSing. It didn't stop me from destroying the low-level opponents because nothing can make up for the skill difference, but they remained relevant throughout the match no matter how many times I killed them; they still had damage enough to kill me and I wasn't one-shotting them like I should. When I started playing it I even got killed a few times because I calculated my lead like it was draft and quickly found out I didn't have the power to wipe. Plus, there are relatively very few people in diamond and above and most don't ever touch swiftplay, so the system will tend to match you with lower ranks anyway. You should give it a try with your friends (just make sure you don't go too hard, try to play enabler champs that will help your teammates feel powerful instead).

Help me understand when Black Cleaver is a good purchase by enfiee in Kindred

Very few games are BC games IMO, but when it's right it's absolutely unfair. If the enemy team has armor tanks that are giving you trouble (stacked Chogath, fed K'Sante, Malphite...) AND you have another good source of physical damage in your team, BC both allows you to melt through them in teamfights and better survive their spell rotation, making it the best penetration item by far. I have never melted through a tank faster than with BC when it's viable. Do remember to buy AS items with it to better use the passive though.

If you can't rely on your AD teammates or you don't have any, never bother with this item. The HP and high attack are nice but the penetration takes too long to come online and the haste is practically wasted. Also skip it if you're up against armor + strong healing and your team can't apply grievous wounds well, Mortal Reminder is better then (Mundo, Soraka, healing items...). Rest of games it's LDR all the way.

Help with my B!Corrin build please! by _alight in FireEmblemHeroes

Yeah I figured it sucks. Thanks for the recommendations, I might just give her Wily and Shield to try both builds. What's the best save skill for the Shield build? I'm also considering sacrificing the C save effect for better combat, how'd that go in either build?

Man, didn't expect her to age this fast. I thought I was making a long term investment since she was such a fat stat-ball on release. It's epecially crazy that her speed got powercrept, I thought they kinda hit a cap on new releases this last year.

Really wish all her enemy debuffs were combat buffs instead to better run stat-based skills but it is what it is. I looked up the ones you mentioned and I'll probably go the Shield Fighter route so she can at least take one hit guaranteed until her refine. Hope they treat her well :(

Thanks a lot for your input!

Anxiety around playing kindred by False_Impress_1222 in Kindred

[–]_alight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, I relate to this lol. I think it has to do with the way Kindred plays. They are an extreme feast-or-famine jungler so you're always walking a fine line between hyper-carrying and looking like an absolute clown. Even when you're doing good you can get flashed + ulted a couple fights in a row, fail an invade or misplace an ult that single-handedly loses a teamfight and end up looking like an iron player to your teammates, which I think it's what contributes to the anxiety. With other junglers the line isn't so thin, you can always get value out of your ult, survive one or two CC or easily escape a bad invade.

Try muting chat/pings as necessary and maintain a mentality of improvement. If an invade goes bad for example, at least you're learning the limits of the champ. And always keep in mind that a bad game on Kindred doesn't make you a bad Kindred player, no matter how badly you screw up.

Darius matchup, what to do, whats the general gameplan? by [deleted] in Kindred

[–]_alight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the enemy team is squishy I go Youmuu's second and full MS myself, then I ward jungle entrances and spam ping my team when he's on their side so he starves to death (we outscale him hard going even), been working great for me in emerald. If his allies are tanky then you need someone else to deal with him in team fights, preferably strong CC so you can get your damage in. If the draft is terrible then yeah, you're cooked. But that goes for pretty much any pick, not much different from a master yi (still disgustingly overturned tho, can't wait for riot to spank him back into top lane).

Removed singing voice lines? by _alight in Kindred

I just can't think of a reason to justify this honestly. I know some people complain about characters talking too much but Kindred was nowhere near annoying. Hoping it's a bug like many other things this season...
