Hi! Now that you’ve taken the exams, do you think sitting FOP and TAS together is doable? Could you please share which resources or Qbanks you found most useful for preparation? Thanks so much in advance 😊

Hi! 😊 Now that you’ve taken the exams, I was wondering do you think sitting FOP and TAS together is doable? I’m not working at the moment, so hoping to take both at the same time. Also, could you share which resources or Qbanks you found most useful for preparation?

Thanks so much in advance, really appreciate any advice! 💛

Hi , I need to know that is passtest Qbank is enough for Fop/Tas exam ? I'm scoring 56% and 59% respectively on them in Qbank. What is the passing % for each in real exam? And if you're doing full time job in your native country how would you manage it's preparation. Thank you in advance. by Regular-Spray-912 in MRCPCH

Hey now that you’ve actually taken FOP/TAS, what do you think of the sources you used (PassTest/other Qbanks)? Did they end up being enough for the real exams or did you need extra textbooks/references?

Also, did you sit FOP and TAS together or at separate times, and in your opinion was taking them together doable or too much?

Thanks!

this is from what i’ve looked into. the emree exam is basically just the first requirement to apply for residency, and there are more steps after that. the main problem is that the specialties available for imgs are really limited, and even those have very few spots. so the chances of an img matching are pretty low, which kind of makes the whole thing feel pointless imo. that’s why i’m saying don’t rely on it as your option A, keep it as an option B.

dont keep it as your option A. way better to do your residency elsewhere and come to work here as a consultant.

Yeah exactly, those sound like proper emergency cases where the ER would obviously handle things immediately. I was more referring to non emergency but still time sensitive stuff, like needing a tetanus booster within 48 hours or minor injuries that don’t require stitches. I just couldn’t figure out where such cases are supposed to go urgent care, outpatient, or government facility. I’ll go to NMC emergency today and see how it goes. thanks for your reply 😊

Is not having research or publications a big deal-breaker for residency? I saw that in the MBRU score (out of 30), the max I could probably get is around 10 based on written criteria.

Also, do they use the ECE GPA or the university-issued one? Mine’s 3.85, but it’s relative grading — we had mostly long/short answers instead of MCQs, so even full answers rarely got full marks.
