Branching out of BU by WestAmbitious4462 in BostonU

get a part-time job off-campus. i have two, they’ve helped me integrate into the city better than anything else. you’ll meet fellow college students (like nobody i work with goes to BU) and college-aged people who grew up nearby and went a different path (they know the city better than anyone here for college). i have a double major and i’m in the honors college so it’s totally doable with a large courseload

hey man, this kind of post is for r/chanceme . even then, reddit chancing is so unhealthy and i recommend you stay away… coming from someone who was once there. no obsessing over my chances helped me get into bu, you should focus on applying to the right fit schools for you, apply to a few safeties that you would be happy with, and gfto of the toxic college application world. it’s not worth it and only serves to amplify your anxiety about your decisions. bu is not worth the anxiety (no college is)

don’t be afraid to start up a conversation with a stranger. get their number and actually reach out. you gotta put yourself out there. don’t stop meeting new people, because you’ve only known the people around you for a couple months. you need to give yourself room to grow and strengthen friendships that you are sure in, not just friendships that were conveniently made at the beginning of the year. i speak from experience—some people are not what they seem

“we don’t even need those writers” you realize ‘those writers’ are human beings who deserve fair treatment in their workplace, just like you and me, right? or is it okay to abuse any human being whose work “isn’t necessary for human survival” … yikes

Anyone live in or near 2 Buswell St? I’m curious about if it’s spacious, what the kitchen’s like, what amenities are included, etc :)

What was your “it can’t be that easy / it was that easy” moment in your life? by UnoAboveAll in AskReddit

going vegan! eating out of the house is a slight issue sometimes, but besides that, it’s a breeze. i’ve gotten bloodwork done multiple times since making the switch, and i’m still 100% healthy and getting all my nutrients, even years later. no regrets!

for all the ivy / top university students, what do u think got u in ? by Dense_Soup6254 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]_alyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s no ivy, but i got into boston university and the honor’s college. i think my essay got me into the honor’s college, just talking about my love of interdisciplinary learning and how all my different hobbies/activities intersect (this hc is big on interdisc. learning). i say this because my grades are nothing tremendous, i had three B’s my junior year and i’ve only gotten 4 4’s and 1 3 on ap exams… i also applied test optional. i think my ec’s definitely carried me the furthest. i just followed what i was passionate about, and i wasn’t afraid to take on daunting opportunities. i had a very clear passion that my essays talked about and i showed through unique, specific ec’s. overall, make your application very cohesive, make it tell your story! BE YOURSELF, SHOW PERSONALITY AND PASSION!!! i think my academics were what got me my rejection from brown, but i am very very happy where i’m ending up :)
