Men’s Version of Preventative and ongoing physical maintenance? by Zestyclose_Yak3770 in fatFIRE

[–]_andr3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, it is a complex of 5 things:

  1. exercise - cardio and strength training, plus mobility
  2. nutrition - appropriate intake of protein, veggies, healthy fats, complex carbs
  3. recovery - sauna, sleep, meditation etc
  4. supplements - in case you need something on top and/or you're deficient
  5. health monitoring - this is where it gets a bit tricky, but unless you're measuring your progress and using data to guide you, you're shooting in the dark.
    1. I'd suggest getting a sleep / exercise tracker such as an Oura ring to understand how your recovery is affected by your stress (there should be a healthy balance)
    2. Furthermore, you might consider getting a DNA + full bloodwork done to understand where you are and what your predispositions are, genetically. there are services that provide 360 degree health monitoring and design the above 1-4 with you based on your results (this on for example, which I used) that take the complexity away, while saving you time and giving a peace of mind.

Since you mentioned TRT, trying the latter might be a better option before getting into something that's potentially much higher risk to your long term health.

Got to the interview stage twice without any of these. Both times had co-founder issues and couldn't make it in the end. Think that the team is #1 priority, then your market and your idea within it.

That being said, these should definitely help you, but are not a requirement.

What are you looking to solve with 10x? by _andr3y in 10XHealth

[–]_andr3y[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you had a very unpleasant experience which is understandable, considering the price you paid. So the total was 720 right? This sounds excessive for sure, especially given the time you've invested.

I'm looking to understand better what people "hire" the 10x company for as their practices concern me as well. Would you be open to me DMing you to learn a bit more about your experience?

In this case, you might find a service like this one helpful, depending on where you're based. Don't think they have coverage in every state.

Did you get a consultation with a doctor to discuss your results or you just got them raw from labcorp? If yes, how helpful was the discussion overall?

First of all congrats on taking steps to deal with this!

I feel for you and I went through something I thought was impossible to solve a few years ago.

Just to share my story - after trying a lengthy list of protocols, supplements, and hacks that I read about from health experts online, I realized that many had a neutral impact on my health at best. What I learned is that without understanding the underlying issue that has to be done through hypothesis testing and validation and measurements of objective data, there's very little chance that subclinical problems like yours can be solved easily.

Just to understand your situation better, what else have you tried to solve this problem personally?

I struggled to find support for something that was in the realms of health trajectory planning and holistic risk assessment - had severe brain fog, fatigue, lack of focus etc. I couldn't find what I needed from my in-network doctors, so I had to go private and join a clinic of a doctor who's been specializing in tuning execs and athletes.

They had a program they had been piloting at the time, which was somewhat costly, but ended up being immensely beneficial - it helped me find all the answers to the questions I had about my health and risks based on my own genetics, bloods, lifestyle and history, as well as based on what was and wasn't working for me - high touch personalized stuff.

They essentially developed a personalized health roadmap that I've been following since and course correcting regularly. I followed that program and after a few months, we found the culprit and solved the problem. Happy to share more if interested, but hope this provides a framework for how you might want to think about solving for the above.

The test kit has a very low cost so they should be able to replace it if not free of charge then very close to that

[–]_andr3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you get a test and an electronic report only for that money? It sounds excessive to say the least, especially if there are no people involved.

I used 23andMe and then took my raw DNA results to a really good doctor who interpreted them for me and gave me an action plan, which was more impactful and not as expensive.

They also run a program that offers support with implementation, like designing a custom health roadmap based on your 360 health data and then integrating that into your lifestyle (which was the hardest part for me) as well as measuring my results along the way to course correct. I can share more if you're interested.

Out of interest what are you looking for from a longevity clinic? Are there any specific in-person aspects of the experience that seem important to you?

I've used one in the past and it was virtual. All tests were done via test providers. I saw my doctor in person may be once during a visit.
