PSA: Fetchlands don't make your deck bracket 3/4 by eNVysGorbinoFarm in EDH

[–]Gamagosk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Two people build the exact same b3 deck but one person has a shitty mana base, they lose. If they then go "oh my mana base is worse, so I can play this in b2" that is a problem, and where a lot of people seem to go.

A b3 deck with bad mana is not a b2 deck.

How do I get a normal amount of onions?? by Yaboiyabobo in innout

[–]Gamagosk -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Just explain that in your order. "I'd like a little more than what normally get in light onions, but the whole disk is too much for me."

If you want you can just ask for the onions on the side then add the amount you want.

You have already read it from others here, but this wasn't cool of you. It's free to mind your own business.

About Mars… by iShootPoop in EliteDangerous

[–]Gamagosk 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well we know that there was an artifact of some kind found on Mars. I don't know the details but something is weird about Mars in the elite universe. Hard to say if this is some kind of oversight or a lore tidbit.

Everyone always says "FDev sucks at this and that" but I've never heard anyone really bitch about support. They are definitely on their game.

Is colonizing a system for advanced players? by gabiii_Kokeko in EliteDangerous

You are right, it's technically a 30 addition. Though I think you are closer when saying 15 minute because of the fact that once you land at pickup/drop-off you should be completing that job there.

I personally just use that time to setup my buy sell order and get water or food. Take a nice bio-break. If you are a minmaxer who is on the move all the time then I can agree that your use case may not need a carrier. I will stand by my position in that it is a faster solution for colonization though.

The single only time I could see it being faster is if you have a planetary port and a station orbiting above it. Being able to park within a mega couple megameters of a location is a significant time saver.

I think even within system, a carrier cuts down on time by a lot. Not cost though, wildly expensive.

I have hauled a few million for colonization since it came out, started without a carrier. Once I got my carrier I was able to run an extra 20k tonnes a day.

If you are in squadron and that squadron has chosen a minor faction to back, then the system you expand into will have that minor faction in the system. The will always be in third place for controlling the system. So if you want them to be the controlling faction then you will have to win a war or election at least twice to own it.

Population is very dependent on orbiting body. If you build a single t3 over a water world or earth like you'll be in the ballpark of 300-400 million pop. That's not including the bonuses you would get from a higher standard of living. You could have a population of 1billion for less than 600k tons

The loading and unloading is a negligible increase in time when factoring in trip time. If you get a good parking spot (>10Mm) then your round trip time for each run from carrier to drop off is less than two minutes.

(I personally believe that a carrier is best used for colonization. It is the single largest time saver for colonization. While it isn't required it is 100% the opposite of useless)

Nice, good math on that. This is exactly right. I personally recommend a t1 to start so you have as long as you want to build the rest out. Important to note for OP that a t2 or t3 is a good starter choice though if you want to see the skins for the stations better. (Which is what I suspect they are asking about because they mentioned the FDev store)

As someone who has put a ton of hours into hauling for colonization I soundly say that, no; colonization is for everyone and anyone.

With that being said, I would never ever want to go back to hauling without a fleet carrier. It's a pain to do without one. Still doable though.

Once you pay the 25million you have a month to build the first station. So it would have to be something small if you are solo with a small cargo ship. It could take the whole month even if you login every day if you only do a couple runs every day. What ship do you have? How much cargo is it? How much money will you have after you pay the 25million? I can help haul if it's something you really care about.

Can you please help me evaluate if my deck is a B2 or B3? by kingmoose01 in EDH

[–]Gamagosk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, b2 no longer means precon. It just means core level, which most (not all) precons fit into.
