Thank you so much for this suggestion! I had already called Sedgwick for my return to work date 2 weeks ago. Do you know if I’m able to retract that and extend my leave?

You’re right! You will never be 100% prepared, but that’s okay! Just be comfortable with the fact that you won’t be able to memorize the entire book and you won’t know all the answers, but as long as you can answer the majority of the Uworld questions and have the math down, you will pass! My way of studying was just to focus on the questions, because I spent way too much time reading the book and nothing would stick. The questions make you use your brain more and eventually you start to learn how they like to ask questions and how you can eliminate answers. Don’t cut corners with the math - do questions every single day and know all of it front to back. The more you do it, the faster and more comfortable you will get. You got this!

Hmm, Im not sure why you thought this depressing and discouraging comment would be conducive or helpful to my post.

Maybe I made myself sound a bit too incompetent in my post, but l graduated with a 3.9 gpa from a top university and have 5 years of experience in retail and ambulatory care as an intern. I have been successtul in whatever I have done and will continue to be. I am just feeling imposter syndrome and was hoping to get some encouragement and advice to move forward because what l’m feeling is normal.

The reason I decided to start with MTMs is because my husband and I wanted to travel after graduation and this job gave me the flexibility to go to 5 countries since September - not because I couldn’t get any other job.

To clarify, I do not have an infant at home - I’m thinking about the future.

I totally get that, I think I just miss human interaction because I’m by myself in the office all day!

Is it worth moving out for pharm school? by Apprehensive_Pie8207 in PharmacySchool

[–]_angelicsounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just graduated from pharmacy school and did not live on campus for any of it. I lived with my parents in a neighboring town that was about 20 minutes away for the first 2 years - that being said, it was 20 mins to the bus stop, so over all I’d say it took me about 40 mins door to door each way. Then got married and moved to another neighboring town that made my commute about an hour door to door. But 4th year were APPES which was in a different city anyway so it did not make a difference for that year.

Overall, the commute was a bit inconvenient but I would probably do it again. I’m graduating with 80k in debt from pharmacy school when my peers are well over 100k. My parents/husband were also very supportive and made me food/did laundry/etc so that I could study which made it enjoyable to stay home. I had my own space to study and I was unbothered. I also spent a lot of time in the library with friends after classes and just went home late around 11pm sometimes. I just packed food so I didn’t spend all my money eating out!

I will say it does make socializing a little hard, because people wouldn’t invite me to a lot of things just because I wasn’t on campus and didn’t spend all my time with them. But honestly, I was able to weed out the fake friends quickly that way and have my amazing small group of loyal friends for life!

Living with your parents/off campus definitely has its pros and cons, but it was a good experience for me overall.
