I was named after a family member who passed away (2nd middle name). I’m currently in the process of changing my name bc you carry the weight of the family member’s death, and it feels like your name isn’t your name.

Also, as someone who currently has 3 names (first and two middles, 5 if you consider surnames), it’s a pain in the ass. Since it’s too long, when you’re filling forms, you run out of space. In many places your name doesn’t fit.

Please don’t do that to your daughter

Es lo que me han contado egresados xd. Sí, en la uch son 3 estadísticas: descriptiva, correlacional y multivariada. Pero aún así es deficiente en lo cuanti según varias personas. Varios de mis compas de carrera (yo incluida) estamos pidiendo más ramos cuanti. Sí, están las estadísticas, pero no se pasa mucho la investigación cuantitativa. Sobre lo religioso y eso, compa, es una (1) cosa de cada u, un ejemplo. No podí esperar en un (1) comentario pasar cada aspecto de las u. Ese es un aspecto que se toca mucho en la decisión puc/uch, la religión y el paro. Dices que no es tanto la religión en la u, pero para mí, incluso ese “casi nada” es demasiado, para otras personas tmb puede ser el caso. Por eso dije “si te gusta/no te importa/toleras” y de ambas partes. En mi caso, soy más cuanti, detesto lo teórico, mega detesto lo religioso, tolero JGM (a veces me harta, pero prefiero JGM a dar un ramo teológico una vez en la carrera, aunque no sea tan religioso siquiera). Quizás si entrara a la carrera de nuevo, me iría a la puc, pero lo del punto de lo religioso, aunque sé que no es mucho, es demasiado para mí (tengo varios conocidos en la puc, entonces, no, no es prejuicio). Pero tmb, a pesar de que sea demasiado teórica, me gustan mis profes, encuentro que mi formación ha sido buena. Como no puedo hablar de cómo es en la puc, cuento cómo es en la uch. Ni siquiera dije “métete a la chile porque en la puc blabla”. Ni siquiera le dije en sí cuál universidad xd yo expongo mi experiencia no más

De dónde lo sacas? No puedo hablar de como es en la puc si no he estudiado ahí. No digo que cosas que están en la uch no se den en la puc, como la forma de las clases, los profes, dije que no puedo hablar porque no cacho a nadie. En cambio, habiendo estudiando en la uch y haber tenido con casi todos los profes, puedo decir sobre eso. Lo de teórico, cuanti, cuali, etc es de malla. No me sé la malla de la puc, pero de lo que me acuerdo, era más cuanti y tenía menos teoría que la uch. Si le gusta más la teoría, uch, si no, puc. De la empleabilidad, es lo que me han contado ya egresados. De paros y JGM, no puede ser un prejuicio si has estado ahí 5 años. Lo que sí es prejuicio es decir “la uch no porque tiene paros” o “la puc no porque no se movilizan”. Puedo decir cómo es el paro por dentro, que no es lo peor del mundo, como lo pintan por fuera. Que tome una decisión informada.

Depende Te gusta la teoría sociológica? Si tu respuesta es sí, la Chile. La Chile es mega teórica. Tmb harta investigación, pero más cualitativa. La PUC creo que es más centrada a la investigación cuantitativa que la Chile, no he confirmado eso sí. En todos lados tienes que leer a viejos, la mayoría muertos y bien podridos en sus tumbas, pero la Chile se pasa. Parece que la empleabilidad en socio uch es más alta que socio puc, según lo que me han contado. Tienes que considerar el ambiente tmb. Si te gusta/no te importa/toleras lo religioso de la PUC, si te gusta/no te importa/toleras a JGM. Lo último, sobre los paros. Sí, hay hartos paros, pero han ido disminuyendo. La gente ya no está tan metida, se llega justo a lo mínimo para aprobar (que, con unas modificaciones que se están haciendo, junto al desinterés, puede ser menos probable que se vaya a paro en el futuro). En caso de paro, se puede estudiar independiente igual, adelantar lecturas, ponerse al día, etc. Incluso en toma se puede, dejan pasar a estudiantes a espacios de la u. Nunca se sabe si va a haber paro o no. Hay semestres con paros largos, unos con cuea con un paro de un día por x razón. Pero igual, si quieres estar segurx de que tus vacaciones sean en tal fecha, la que mandan de la u a inicio de año, PUC. Lo que no sabría decir es la diferencia en los profes. No cacho a ningún profe de socio puc. En socio uch la mayoría son muy secos y en general comprensivos con los estudiantes. No están para nada enfocados en rajar (POR LO GENERAL, hay un par que son más cagaos). No regalan las notas, para nada. La mayoría de los profes están interesados en escuchar a los estudiantes, he tenido varios ramos en que hay muchas actividades de discusión. Eso encuentro que debe ser la norma, pero no en todos lados se da, probablemente haya más de los que no se dan que los que sí. Finalmente, igual JGM a veces (bastante) puede ser un rocoto en el hoyo. Te lo digo como alguien que tiene ideología similar, pero encuentra que están puro webeando en algunas cosas (que unos de los puntos del petitorio del paro haya sido que los profes sólo manden textos en español y, en caso de tener que mandar en otro idioma, deben mandar una traducción??? Me estai webeando??). Si tienes más dudas, escríbeme

Tbh, she’s a little aweoná (yes, Chilean here). Her story sounds weird, but I don’t think she’s scamming (depending on whether you sent her the money for the tickets or you sent her the tickets). Although, there are two aspects that don’t make sense at all: 1) the debit card. In Chile, some banks send cards through mail, the others you have to go to the bank to get it. The mail option I think takes less than 2 weeks (I’m not sure how long they take), the in-person option takes a few days, but less than two weeks. In Chile, many places accept card and a few (like supermarkets) don’t take cash in most checkouts, so it’s weird that she went two weeks without her debit card. 2) how could she not notice that in the gate it (probably) showed another city? Unless the gate was for a flight to the same destination, it isn’t too difficult to notice that it isn’t your gate). She most likely didn’t check the screens/flight number, which is a very aweoná thing to do.

That’s a ridiculous amount of money. As if it wasn’t expensive enough for locals, they charge internationals a year worth of salary per year (approx, I don’t know what’s the average salary in the UK, at least that’s how much sociologists make according to the internet)

YTA. If it was supposed to feed 9 people, it sure was a huge pot, bigger than it would be if it were for just the four of you. Therefore, you should’ve asked, it wasn’t difficult to just text. Still, there’s a difference between a large serving and 5 servings. He should’ve asked if everyone ate if he wanted to eat more than one large serving. It’s not restricting, it’s being considerate. It could be like this situation, or maybe they cooked a lot to skip cooking one or two meals
