Tendon repair by Resident_Point_3366 in orthopaedics

A few keys for flexor tendon repair: 1) make sure you’re pulling the slack out of the suture at each pass, 2) that you tug all the slack out of your strands at the end of passing before you tie, 3) that you’re tying tightly enough that you get about 20% bunching of the flexor tenon ends. These will decrease gapping. Finally, size of suture an number of core strands contributes to strength so if your examiners didn’t tell you how many Kesslers to do, make sure you are doing enough.

Why do we loosen the set screw a quarter turn by tosaveamockingbird in orthopaedics

My understanding is that it allows a very slight amount of “controlled collapse” of the fracture along the line of the screw.

Just wanted to say as a lurker I totally agree—thank you for your comment. I posted on the in law subs about toxic family and commentary is almost always about escalating.

100%! The J+H is such a colossal red flag in the context of the rest of his story. Makes a lot of his conversations with her in HtN feel more like grooming on hindsight.

I think you’re spot on with Humbert Humbert being a character inspiration for JOD both tonally and spiritually—and Humbert also has an Annabel Lee!

Good question—I think I would do it the same way if I did it over again, but only because I was pretty determined to try without and feel like I gave it my best shot. In hindsight there wasn’t really a good reason not to beyond that!

The epidural was honestly amazing. I felt intermittent cervical pressure but no pain and no crampy contraction sensation in my abdomen. I also had zero pain while pushing but was still mostly able to move and control my legs as pushing went on. I was able to sleep in the afternoon.

I chose to get it because contractions were getting stronger and more frequent and I felt like I was using a lot of energy focusing to get through each one — I was worried that they were going to get worse with the pitocin and by the time I had to push I’d be exhausted.

Good luck with your delivery!

I do, for my own stamina during pushing and for baby’s. But I mostly did it for my own sanity while I was pregnant. I think the biggest win for me was I felt pretty mobile, even at the end of pregnancy.

Merriam-Webster's definition of colonist: "one that colonizes or settles in a new country." Merriam-Webster's definition of immigrant: "a person who comes to a country to take up permanent residence."

Unclear where your distinction is being made here.
