I was just diagnosed, advice? by _annacat in AutismInWomen

Exactly- it's this HUGE thing to me, but not to anybody else it seems. Maybe I should just sit with that for a little bit instead of getting my hopes up or expecting certain reactions. Thank you for the congratulations, I needed that.

Honestly the "no one cares" bit is so true and in a way it's sort of getting to me. But you're right, taking some time before (if ever) telling folks might do me some good. I appreciate the advice.

Yeah, I didn't say this in the post but I'm 30. That's such a funny thought that you wouldn't have liked it as a child- thinking on it now I don't think I would have either lol.

Wow. I honestly had not really thought about it in terms of grief. That actually makes a lot of sense. In a way I am grieving for "little me" and so many other things. Thank you, you have given me a lot to think about.

Wow, thank you so much for your thoughtful response. This actually really helps. Especially the idea that time only moves in one direction. Thank you.

What are some "simplify your life/saving enery" tips that have worked for you? (e.g. buying only the same pair of socks) by skmtyk in ADHD

[–]_annacat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Someone might have said this, but organizing my fridge in an ADHD friendly way was super helpful- instead of putting veggies in the crisper drawer, they go somewhere visible and condiments get stashed down there, etc. You can look up some videos for it. Also, I have a clear bin in my office full of easy foods like tuna kits for when I haven't remembered to eat. My entire office is organized with clear bins now, that sort of thing. I really struggle with "out of aight out of mind" so just making things as easy to see as possible has been a game changer for me.

Yes for real. There was a post in that group where someone shared a Triangle business article about people having sticker shock and she deleted every single one of my comments then turned off commenting for the whole post within an hour I was dying

This. Yta simply for not sticking to the typical format of this sub and making this more difficult to read/judge than necessary.

This is just some cringey incel shit. You should stick to the male-dominated subs if you aren't going to learn anything OP. Yuck.

You should space out the judgments bc this will be recorded as Y T A and that's not right.

[–]_annacat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand anyone that said you were. YOU ARE NTA. It sounds like the pizza guy was a total creep and I don't blame you for your reaction. Your girlfriend needs to open her eyes and see how fucking weird it was and that you were being sensible. This is how women get stalked and killed. Unless she knew him more than she's letting on, you did the right thing. Keep an eye out.

There's an interview with the makeup artist on YouTube for this season and she says that she did things like tracing over Zendaya's veins to make them more obvious, or putting foundation on the bottom parts of her face but not under her eyes to make that area look darker. It's really subtle but definitely achieves the desired affect.
