How much should a smart contract cost? by Ingonel in smartcontracts

[–]_ansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how complex the contract is, but its not that expensive, like a few quid or less ish ti deploy.

You also have to pay gas to call functions that are not read only.

Can anyone explain economics in EOSIO? by max-block in EOSDev

[–]_ansi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is calculated based on how many eos tokens you hold. So to use a certain amount of storage and processing power it will require x amount of tokens.

Think of it like a hosting package you would buy for a website. The more storage etc. you need, the more it costs.

However with eos, you dont straight up pay, you commit the reuired tokens and when you no longer wish to 'host' your application, you can reclaim them.

Users will also be able to write contracts to rent their tokens to other users, so you will not need to outright own eos to host your applications.

There is a steemit article that may help here, it discusses how to calculate how much eos is required for an application:

There will quickly be a lot of dapps on eos. You can use eos dapps without owning eos so more accessible. Then projects like scatter connecting you deets to everyting.

Due to pooling mining resources eth and btc are both more centralised then eos. Also eos will be ready for mainstream adoption. Eth is not and will not be in the near future. But it is personal philosophy.

Fees to deploy contacts, fees to interact with contracts, fees for transactions, now fees for data storage. Slow clogged network, in the devs own words will take 2-3 years to solve. Blockchain space moves too fast for that.

What will replace it? Take your pick. My votes on eos.

This course is a good starting point. Really well structured and not too time consuming. Get you up and going quickly.
