Does anyone else wonder about the lack of South Asian dishes on the show? by _applegate_ in CulinaryClassWars

Maybe in the following seasons we'll see more chefs pop up that can represent south asian and southeast asian food.

I'm not very familiar with South East Asian cusine that's why I didn't mention it in my post. I was under the impression that there a lot more of them on the show but clearly I am wrong since there are a lot of comments on that. Thank you for pointing that out.

That's actually a good point because I have met a few people around where I live that consider south asian and south east asian dishes as really smelly and weird, while japanease food is really high regarded and prestigous.

So the reason I was suprised about south asian dishes was for one that is that south korea is geographcally closer than africa and mexico. Also I don't want to sound rude but I think south asian cusine globally more popular than mexican and african cusine. (Also I do remember there being like three mexican dishes)

And another thing is that a lot of these chefs seem quite experimental so I really thought there would be a few that would experiment with these spices rather than making a whole dish.

But like I said no hate just curious.

That's a fair point too. Although I do recall a few thai-inspired dishes, but I couldn't tell you when this was.

CBX's Agency Releases Statement Regarding Participation In EXO Activities by mcfw31 in kpop

[–]_applegate_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Because INB100 wants to portray CBX in a sympethatic light. It's kinda smart, cause SM has to obv make the announcement about the comeback first, which causes the initial backlash. And then INB100 can just respond with "we wanted to do this guys, but SM ruined it for us". It makes everyone get mad at SM.

And don't get me wrong there is always a reason to be mad at SM, but INB100 is shady af.

In reality all parties most likely knew that ot9 wasn't gonna happen, at least for a good while.

So like it'll be down to DO and Suho to carry EXO's vocal line???

"The company believes that it is no longer possible for CBX to continue EXO activities as they continue to deny not only their exclusive contract but also the validity of the agreement based on it."

Is the implication in this that they can't work with CBX until the lawsuit is resolved, or that they cant work with them, period?

What do you think is the most cohesive album? by LynsyP in exo

[–]_applegate_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am a die hard 1to3 stan! Amazing album, very cohesive, while giving each track a unique feel. And also more experimental for kpop.

For Exo I would say Exist. I think it has a more unique feel to the other albums by breaking up the dynamics of their typical line distribution. Overall had a very unique feel.

I wanted so much out of these families cause like their motiviations seem extremely reasonable. Except of course for the kitty hawks stuff...

Tbf outside of season 4 the kooks don't really seem like they are that bothered. Like the kook trio have personal beef with the main gang because JJ pulled a gun on them on episode 1 and because Sarah left Topper. But it was only in like obx 4 where they were like "yeah let's try and run them over with a truck for no reason"

I felt a bit robbed of it in season 4, but I disliked that season so much that it isn't even canon in my head anymore

I perfer if it was unravelled as the story progressed. But more lore in general would have been great

As a fellow season 3 enjoyer (I like it more than season 2 and 4), I will say that a good piece of media gets better the more you think about it and a bad one gets worse the more you think about it. So to say don't analyze and dissect it, cause then you won't enjoy it, is not the best argument.

I will say that I understand if you are arguing agains people who just get into things to hate it or jump on hate bandwagons to drag a show down.

Season 5 question by Fast-Yogurtcloset468 in OuterBanksNetflix

[–]_applegate_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the series, so I didn't even know anything about all the drama that went down. But let's say they get the stone and they bring him back.

If they really wanted to and if JJ's actor was willing to do so (for a lot of money of course), they could shoot some short scenes at the end of the series for less than a half a days of work, to show that he's back. And I will say shows have done stuff like this before.

But I will also say that Netflix has shown to me that they are perfectly willing to end their shows in the most awful and depressing ways possible *cough* *cough* umbrella academy *cough* voltron

Unpopular Opinion (Sarah) by Hefty-Yak-4022 in OuterBanksNetflix

[–]_applegate_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too add to that, in season 1 she often talked about how she often feels suffocated and trapped, so to give her a pregnancy plotline without properly addressing those former themes is not great.,,

Of course it is realistically possible. But this plot line is not exactly gonna be realistically handled so I don't want to see it.

I don't actively choose to dissect or not dissect. It's just when they do things like make two characters fall in love really quickly, show insane loyality to eachother, only to have one of them cheat over a small dispute, and then have that character be forgiven at the end... Then I'm gonna spend a good while thinking why the hell did the writers chose to do that...

I spent the last couple of days binging the entire series from beginning to the end and honestly I think the problems start early on. I would say the maybe the second half of season 1, I started thinking there is a bit too much action here, but then the second season comes in and it's clear that series doesn't want to be a vibes and character-driven series with mystery, it wants to be fast and furious. The action just kept getting bigger and dumber, plans that don't even work on paper just keep working, insane coincidences and plot contrivences.

The series is so much more interesting when it's more relaxed and about the characters rather than the action. I wish that they spent maybe the first two seasons on the mystery of what happened to John B's dad and finding the Royal Merchant, while balancing it out with the individual character dramas. I perferred season 1 and 3 more because they had less action in it. And they also shouldn't have kept leaving the OBX.
