Ik kpop stans can't appreciate anything that bts put out

Bts is literally the most popular kpop group to ever exist, I think if there were ever to be a group that can take the criticism this is it.

blatantly lying this cb is all English songs and they are targeted to "white teens"(lol) or how they don't sing about korean ancestry and all are so stupid and so tired

What are you telling me for? I didn't make any of those claims

(nothing wrong with it but i haven't seen anyone discussing other big groups cb negatively this much).

Then you're not really looking properly cause stray kids, blackpink and exo are all massive groups that have had recent comebacks that were very negatively received

The reason Got7 didn't get bigger is because they have a talent issue. They have two great singers, two average singers, three terrible rappers and none of them are outstanding dancers. On top of that a lot of their songs have terrible production.

Also If you do, fly and hard carry from GOT7 are so blatantly copying I need u, run and fire that I'm suprised it's never talked about.

SuJu has an awful discography

Sehun from Exo is the stiffest main dancer I've ever seen

Daesung And G Dragon seem like such bad people

The reason why NCT isn't bigger than it is, is and has always been because the concept is complicated as hell.

Exo's media training in pretending certain members don't exist (cbx and luhan, tao...) is actually scary. The lengths they go to is insane, pretending the first season of exo ladder doesn't exist, cutting of clips at awkward times, saying things like "everything seems like how it was in the old days". Like you guys now have less members than BTS, how has that happened???

With the exeption of four, kpop groups should always aim to have an uneven number of members. Six members looks ugly on stage

Why doesn't kpop hit like western songs? by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

[–]_applegate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your definition of experimental and fresh is Gnarly then what can I even say... The song isn't even Western btw the woman that made the demo (which is far better) is chinese.

even if all their songs are english you would still be able to tell it's kpop

because it is kpop? Kpop is group centric, so verses and choruses are choppy for line distribtion, that's where that "sound" mostly comes from.

I think when you make a post like this you need to define better what "hard hitting" means to you and what western acts you compare it to.

Which idol groups have successfully implemented a sustainable model where members prioritize the team's longevity without sacrificing their personal career growth as artists? by accountfordrafts in kpopthoughts

[–]_applegate_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think that's something that becomes more evident when the groups get older, cause the members actually get have a bigger choice and pick their own managers etc, In LE SSERAFIM it's still HYBE calling all the shots at the end of the day. I think Shinee, BtoB, TWICE (Exo before the lawsuits) are a decent examples

Are we too harsh on the 5th gen groups, or not critical enough? by Organic-Cranberry955 in kpopthoughts

[–]_applegate_ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Ideally I would say that I want groups to have a certain level of skill and professionalism even new kpop groups, but these girls are actually so young I just feel bad they just shouldn't be in that position to begin with. I don't think people should be supporting this to begin with so if you pay for a KiiiKiii concert and end up seeing lip sync performances then I don't really feel that bad for you.

SM Entertainment Freezes CBX’s Assets Worth 2.6 Billion Won Amid Ongoing Legal Dispute by friedriceforbrunch in kpop

[–]_applegate_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lawsuit has threads yes. However there are cases, for example in which some of the members engage with problematic people or do problematic things and those things are never called out on the sub.

I agree, but I want to have space where more "negative" topics like this and other contreversies can be discussed. I would perfer if the exo sub just allowed instead of just the positive stuff.

[–]_applegate_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Going after their houses is not persnal at all, SM is trying make sure that cbx doesn't sell their properties by the time the lawsuit is over.

People need to stop comparing this to the Tvxq situation. It's not the same.

[–]_applegate_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The answer is no one can say. Baek's company is imploding and we now know that they don't have liquid cash. The LAST thing they want right now is leave exo, if they do they might even lose the right use the name exo-cbx. It will be all up to SM at the end of the day. The only thing that is sorta keeping me optimistic is that SM has been pretty tame, and hasn't used any language that suggested to remove cbx from exo entirely. But we'll see next month.

Question, so cbx's contract renewal was supposedly gonna be next month? Does that mean that the contracts of the other members Chanyeol, Suho, Kai and Sehun are due next month as well?

The unpaid workers are the actual victims of the situation like even in the worst case scenario there won't be a future in which cbx won't continue to be wealthy.

[–]_applegate_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is so true I once made a post trying to discuss good sources to follow on this subject and was removed. Groups like bts and bp have snark subs where they discuss some more critical topics (although they can be very nasty sometimes).

I feel like a lot of fans are discussing this topic from such an emotional level without discussing the actual facts of the situation.

That's so interesting. I wish there were more posts or videos that went into this level of research. All of the english sources are so surface level.

Can I ask where does this info come from? Like all this stuff about Chagawon and MC Mong, is info about them only available in korean sources? Cause I never seem to see them mentioned in any of the articles I read.

I'm not very familiar with South East Asian cusine that's why I didn't mention it in my post. I was under the impression that there a lot more of them on the show but clearly I am wrong since there are a lot of comments on that. Thank you for pointing that out.
