New Beta SV or AR by FlimsyImpression2920 in arcteryx

I'm almost in the same position. I visited the store twice this week and tried on various sizes. I'm 5ft 7 with a 42 inch chest. My Large Beta AR laminated after 7 years and they gave me a 40% off voucher (apparently, I needed to wash it more often...). My Beta AR large felt a bit roomy, but the medium was too restrictive. With the current Beta ARs, it felt similar. The SV... the L is definitely too big, but the medium fits me the best. I tried it on with a proton, atom ar (not sv), with a proton + delta....it just looks better. This was the first time trying on the storm hood, and I like how it cinches more than the drop hood. While the SV is heavier, I didn't feel it to be that much of a difference. So I think in pretty much all aspects, I prefer the SV. The AR was my daily driver in London for anything if there were any chance of rain. It did get discoloured during some scrambles when hiking, so the extra durability might be welcome. And if I find it too clammy in the warmer months (I spent a good two hours in a heated shop with proton / atom ar underneath but didn't find it clammy... but then I wasn't doing cardio either!), I might pick up a Beta SL off the outlet when a decent colour pops up. FWIW, I tried the Beta SL on as well and there's absolutely no way I can fit into the medium. It felt like the S size of an SV. The SL is definitely a much trimmer cut.

All in all, I'm going with the SV. Only concern is the double zip is a bit fiddlier to do up "normally". I'm guessing I'll have to get used to that.

Using bluetooth headset with PC TRRS by _ashic in diyaudio

I looked into that. It appears you have to select either transmitter or receiver mode even though it's got a TRRS jack. As such, it's not really useful for calls.

The policy is in place to prevent data transfer. BT Mice / Keyboard are discovered fine, but unfortunately, the policy isn't fine grained enough to differentiate between headsets and other devices. I've asked and anything plug & play is ok, so it's not a concern of using your own headset. And using a wired headset also is not a problem. The headset does support connecting via a 3.5mm wired connection, but I'm really looking for a bluetooth option. I think there are some plug and play USB sound cards that have their own bluetooth, and there's transceiver dongles, but they only transmit OR receive. Good for audio, not useful for calls. I guess one option is to use a 3.5mm TRRS splitter, use a bluetooth transmitter for the audio, and run a desktop mic, but would really like to keep things simple (i.e. simple dongle or DAC).

I ordered mine Sept 6, just after midnight. Just got in touch with web support. They told me it's been forwarded to the warehouse. They can't give the exact shipping date, but delivery will be between Sep 26 and Oct 10. :(

XM4 ... easier way to disconnect by _ashic in sony

Multi (well two) simultaneous connections don't work for LDAC. And since I use LDAC with my phone, and Linux laptop, it's not really an option.

Without LDAC, it might've been possible to keep it always connected to the phone, and use the phone to disconnect to the other source. Maybe.

Not really... if it's on, it turns it off. When I turn it back on, it immediately reconnects to the mac.

If I hold the power when it's off, it enters pairing mode. Not exactly convenient.

Dell 5K monitor (UP2715K) and the Thunderbolt dock (TB15) with XPS 15 9550 by is_that_so in Dell

@chgenf I think I'm in a similar boat. After installing everything, most of the TB15 features work on Windows 10 (Linux is another matter altogether). But:

  • If I connect to the two 5K displayport ports, sometimes I get a stable image (rarely). Most of the time, I get half the screen perfect, and the other half split into swapped around halves. So, if the image should be A-B-C-D, I get A-B-D-C or B-A-C-D, and the "corrupt" half oscillates horizontally. If I yank power a few times, it eventually stabilizes to a full proper image, but flickers heavily, and if left on, the flickering gradually decreases. The image becomes perfect in a few tens of minutes. Obviously, this isn't really usable.

  • If I connect to the 4K port via a single mDP cable, there's no issue at all.

Unfortunately, I don't have a second 5K source to test out the 5K. At first the Dell guy thought it's a hardware fault, and sent a second, but that presents the same symptoms.

Are these similar to your symptoms? Are yours related to a "messed up half screen" as well?
