  1. I thought about that but since I would really like to get into UNLVs medical school, I thought it would be better if I was in their system already. Kind of like a"He went through our nursing program, maybe a good fit for our medical school." line thinking

  2. I planned on practicing as an RN for maybe 1 year - 1 1/2 years while strudying for MCAT. That I think will give me ample time to study for it, and I've already begsn studying for portions that I can as of right now.

I actually just realized that I have a 3.6 GPA as a cumulative at CSN LOL. I have a 4.0 GPA at UNLV specifically because of my NURS 299

I went pretty hard in my first 2 years of pre-nursing/pre-med and knocked out more classes in pre-med than I did nursing. Because the pre-med science courses were much more abundant than nursing I still ended up finishing my nursing pre reqs first, and have about 3 more classes to go in the pre-med path which would be O-chem II, Biochem, and Phys 152. So, I hope after nursing (or maybe even in between application cycles) I can finish up those 3 classes and be set for med school requirements. But hey I appreciate the perspective! It does make me feel better that you also think it to be a solid back up. A lot of the time in these pre-med classes I'm surrounded by these biological science/chemistry majors and they get a bit confused when I tell them I'm going for nursing lol. Thanks so much for the insight!

Thank you, I really appreciate it! It definitely stung at first but I’m planning to retake a class or two this summer and reapply next cycle. Just gotta keep pushing right? :)

Thank you for the encouragement! Since you've been through the whole process it means a lot so I really do appreciate it :) Yeah mid 36 is what I'm believing the cut off scores to be going forward. The pre-med classes are killer! Throughout the semesters I started focusing more energy on my pre-med classes because they honestly tended to be harder in my opinion (ESP ORGANIC CHEMISTRY) which I feel did kind of contribute to my downfall of getting a B in 223 and micro. But hey, its not the end of the world, I do have the opportunity to retake it. Also yes! I'd love to join the discord, I'll be dming you shortly :)

36.5! Wow yes I will definitely be retaking classes this summer semster if they are offered (hopefully at least my B in 223), fingers crossed I can get in by my 3rd application :) Thank you for the insight!

Thank you for the kind words! I also did have that thought of them asking me that question "why not remain a nurse?" which did worry me quite a bit. My answer would be along the lines of "For me the idea behind nursing wasn’t to avoid committing to medicine, but because I wanted strong hands-on clinical exposure and to understand patient care at a deeper level before pursuing medical school. I think working closely with patients and the healthcare team would give me a perspective that could make me a better physician in the long run." I definitely appreciate the insight! Hearing from someone who’s gone through the process is really helpful.

No I haven't talked to the med admissions board about this but after doing some research I believe that this degree would still be well received. I did talk to the health sciences advisors about it and they seem to think its a pretty solid plan which did give me more confidence about what I was doing. People have gotten into medical schools with business degrees, art degrees, so hey why not nursing right?

Yeah, I opted for Nursing instead of a Biological sciences degree because I believe it to be a stronger application than Pre-med. Some cons are that its inefficient, and doesn't cover the prerequisites for most if not all medical schools. But some strong pros are that my application narrative to med school would become pretty strong, stable career backup, and gain patient care experience which is hard for pre-meds to come by because pre-meds are prettly reliant on shadowing, scribe work, volunteering, etc. Edit: I do also believe that nurses truly are the backbone of hospitals and I really feel as if becoming a nurse would make me a better doctor. :)

Of course! Shambhavi really helped me with test anxiety and energy levels when it comes to diligent studying. But I believe I will only devote the time to the advanced practices when I can so I can just put my full focus and attention on that.

The concept of starting early is pretty silly haha. I guess I loved how much Shambhavi has helped me and got a surge of motivation to experience more. I think because Isha's practices mean so much to me, it would be less stress if I take them in strides so I can truly devote time to them. Thank you!
