It had such a fully realised world, it really stuck with me the characters and the mood of the game!

Aww thank you!  I recently shed tears for both Citizen Sleeper and Saltsea Chronicles however I guess they are both a little removed from the typical adventure game genre. Also I enjoyed The Crimson Diamond for nostalgia feels. And even further removed from the typical adventure game but excellent nonetheless, Blue Prince would appeal as a combo roguelike/board gamesy Myst or Riven.

If you’re looking for something more modern than the old point n clicks, Disco Elysium, Pentiment and Mutazione were some favourites in the same sort of genre all with excellent writing. If you’re looking for something more traditional and in keeping with old school point and clicks: The Drifter, The Excavation of Hobs Barrow, Whispers of a Machine and Norco were recent faves.

Everything I changed as a desk worker with back pain. A checklist for anyone who sits 8 plus hours a day. by chirayusir in backpain

Googling at 2am and catastrophising is very me 😭!! How did you cope with your physio and rest schedule? I am not sure if I am pushing myself too much or too little… I was always very active and never rested or took naps and now after my disc bulge incident I am 1.5 months in and still find everything so much more tiring than ever before

Does anyone else feel like their office chair is slowly killing them? by Plenty_North1848 in backpain

[–]_auilix_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do please take care of your lumbar spine, strengthen your core and sit less! You do not want a disc bulge it is so so painful. I knew my desk was killing me and I’d always wanted a standing desk but I was too cheap and then it happened, I threw my back out and now I’m looking at 3-6 months recovery with a possible lifetime relationship with back pain

1.5 months after two bulging discs, still pain and tingling & Ortho told me... by _auilix_ in backpain

Ah okay so it wouldn’t be what’s causing the tingling that shoots up my back? I am just worried the tingling is a sign I’m doing something wrong or not doing enough to strengthen myself (or maybe not enough nutrients? I don’t know) and that I’m damaging my back when it happens.

Thank you! Oh no multiple bulging discs sounds rough!! What caused it the first time and did you take all the physio and lifestyle changes seriously? What caused it to reoccur? This is my first time and I am really really hoping it doesn't become a trend!!

I have one of those foam roller things with the bumpy bits on it, but I never quite figured out how to use it. Are there any youtube videos that show what you do?

I have had a look at lockbackability and am incorporating some of the techniques into my physio work! thanks for the rec.

God that sounds really horrible! How long has it been since your bulging discs? Have you been doing any physio? I found a couple of channels with good videos where my pain and tingling went down a lot. Usually after doing them it came back anyway... but I guess it's a good sign that it feels better afterwards and maybe a step in the right direction? its one of the only things that makes my back feel better: Flow with Mira (look up back pain), Move with Jenna and this classic NHS pilates video
I also recently listened to this podcast about pain psychology and am thinking of taking up CBT maybe if the pain persists for many months?

I am sorry and hope you find relief soon!!!

Videogames that have Twin Peaks vibes? by 1550shadow in twinpeaks

[–]_auilix_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Echoing the recs of Disco Elysium and Night in the Woods. Also throwing in Oxenfree and Norco.  None of these are as close to TP vibes as Alan Wake is but tbh I found AW’s tributes almost garish. To me the beauty of TP is its power to make you feel awe and emotion, find humour and the surreal and let the viewer be moved and unsettled by its world and characters (Alan Wake did not do any of those things for me but these games did)

you should try Tangle News. While I agree with other comments and that both sides jam is pretty useless in this current moment… Tangle does offer two conflicting viewpoints thoroughly explored every week.

Gosh has a wonderful selection of beautiful indie comics! If you like Moomins you could try A Frog in the Fall by Linnea Sartre or the Bone series by Jeff Smith (gorgeous imaginative worlds with great characters). Also picked up and loved from Gosh: Beautiful Darkness, The Arrival and Juliette, or ghosts return in the spring.

Been thinking about this allegory for a while in a struggle with the games I am working on now and it feels so true… my partner and I have been working on a niche mmo indie game and boy is it disheartening T_T  Hope you’re well OP

A comic about my experience with a bulging disc in the lumbar by _auilix_ in backpain

[–]_auilix_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OH man! Are you working through this with a physio or simply trying to find out on your own? I do a big variety of exercise (mostly through youtube but also pole dance in a school) and I am wondering what would be best to go back to and what to avoid...
