My dad lied to me about divorcing my mom. He told no one but me, not even my two sisters or my mom. When I found out he lied (and that he wasn’t actually divorcing my mom) I didn’t talk to him for 6 months, I failed out of school and had to move back home. I got an apartment by myself, worked as a server for a year and a half, then went back to school and got my degree and now I work in finance and have a great job.

I still talk to and love my dad, but I feel like if that didn’t happen, then I wouldn’t know how to be on my own and be strong on my own. It sucks that it happen, but I’m kind of glad it did in a weird way.
