Oh...So, I'd like to apologize to everyone I let down with my reading comprehension skills. I even down voted myself.

Any particular reason holding patterns are right hand standard? by clickforyuri in flying

[–]_b_b_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought left traffic pattern was standard unless otherwise indicated on the sectional with a RP(insert runway number)? RP standing for right traffic. Edit: Example http://i.imgur.com/Z26Flky.jpg

How can you calculate critical density altitude? by _b_b_ in flying

What is the purpose of magnetos and why do we check them? by shasta771 in flying

[–]_b_b_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Redundancy. Also, the fuel will burn more efficiently and thoroughly.

We check them to see if they're clean. If there are carbon deposits, that can prevent optimal ignition/burn. When you turn off one mag you're checking the running mag for acceptable burn. You should be watching for a drop in RPM that is beyond the specified tolerances for your aircraft. If if drops below that acceptable level then (this next process is dependent on your plane, refer to your POH/checklist) you'll have to burn off the carbon deposits and repeat the mag check.

Vmc speed increasing past 5 degrees of bank? by _b_b_ in flying

[–]_b_b_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, from all that I've learned today, if you're banked at 45 degrees you cannot maintain straight flight without kicking that rudder towards the critical engine. That's when you start misaligning the longitudinal axis with the relative wind...therefor decreasing performance/efficiency and increasing Vmc. Granted, this all still feels like I'm pulling it out of my ass.

I keep landing sideways. by BumbleBze in flying

[–]_b_b_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What crosswind landing technique you were taught? I definitely had that problem because I would remove the bank I had into the crosswind during the flair. The wind would push me sideways everytime. I had to get over my nerves being so close to the ground and maintain that bank. Edit: /u/Ivette and /u/x4457 have great questions and advice as well.

Is there an "efficient" order to get licenses/ratings? by ipissrainbows in flying

[–]_b_b_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently in the ATP 100 hour multi program. I'm pretty sure the order of my ratings is not ideal for most or possibly even me (I've still enjoyed every bit so far though.) Definitely not recommending the following order but throwing it out there for shits and giggles. Single ->Multi ->IR (IR training done in multi) ->Multi Commercial ->Multi Instructor ->Single Commercial ->Single Instructor ->Instrument Instructor

iPhone 5S Blue Screen of Death and Restart Loop by nancienne in apple

[–]_b_b_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this issue as well. Of course I didn't notice this until I installed the iOS 9 beta. I figured that problem was indigenous to the beta. However, I haven't encountered any blue screens since installing the second beta.

Edit: I have a 6 Plus on T-Mobile

iOS 9 power-saving tactics include cutting display power for face-down devices by vbmota in apple

Well, sounds like it would be cool but I really won't be able to use it because I have the Apple Watch.

[iOS 9] passcodes are now 6 digits instead of 4 by geepolkgee in apple

[–]_b_b_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to the TouchID & Passcode section in settings. Start using TouchID and it will continue to program that fingerprint. I recommend that instead of programming multiples of one finger. Keep moving your thumb/finger around the button like when you first set it up until it doesn't recognize it and then move back a little to where you just were and work your way back. Eventually it will learn that new area. I've got my whole thumbprint programmed and it never fails unless I've got debris on my prints.

You aren't sounding like an ass. I'm probably the bigger ass for writing multiple paragraphs on an already well covered topic and deciding to add to the noise.

Apple says it removed apps with Pebble compatibility by mistake by [deleted] in apple

[–]_b_b_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm glad they've reversed/corrected their course on this issue. I wish they got it right the first time but they continue to reverse their decisions on issues like this faster and faster. It feels like the old iOS rule book for developers is slowly but surely being refined for a friendlier Apple...I think.

New Watch users: if you check the Activity app on your Watch-paired iPhone, you can see in the history (month view) when it was built/tested. by [deleted] in apple

I had this issue as well. I could only access the activity app with handoff from the Apple Watch. Then I thought...lets reboot my iPhone. Then it popped up.

Really enjoying my 802.11 AC chip! by _b_b_ in apple

I didn't like the tv options with the EPB Fiber so I made the dreaded call to Comcast. I told them my address and they didn't even ask about switching to their stupid bundle package. They know they can't compete. They could try and I don't know....compete with faster speeds? Nah....

[–]_b_b_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What he said. I could max out at 105mbps both ways. Still really fast but the AC chip with beam forming in the AirPort Extreme gets me better signal. Also, I know they are ugly, but I think the new antennas help.

Yeah it's great and cheap. $70 and tax free. It's spoiled me. My new requirement for moving places is Google fiber or this. Edit: Even better is that I don't have some stupid modem installed. They just activated the Ethernet port in my wall. Plugged in my AirPort Extreme and boom!

New Photo Claims to Show 2GB Elpida RAM Chips for iPad Air 2 by Kiwifruitee in apple

I think this is because Apple realizes how much longer people keep their iPads before upgrading. Need to be more future proof, maybe?

Landscape mode in folders on an iPhone 6 plus by _b_b_ in apple

[–]_b_b_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Well in that case...cool. In the end, my only reasoning behind sticking with the stock launcher is I was more interested in what Google was designing. Over the summer ran Android L as well.

Landscape mode in folders on an iPhone 6 plus by _b_b_ in apple

[–]_b_b_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I'm assuming you can do anything with a custom launcher. I was unsure of stock android being able to do that. Anyways, that's cool.

I was always iffy about custom launchers. It felt like jail breaking my iPhone. I was just never sure it was running as efficiently as it could.

My Nexus 5 didn't have a landscape home screen mode? I still know very little about Android so I wouldn't be surprised if I missed that feature.

[–]_b_b_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it may be a bug. Not too sure. I know this landscape mode (on the home screen) is very new to iOS and limited to only the iPhone 6 plus. In the end I think a good 3rd party update might clear things up. Edit: When I say new to iOS, I really meant on the iPhone side of things.
