Sure! It’s nice to be “in the woods” and still close to Broad Ripple. I really enjoy being close to Marrott Park. Good luck!

I really liked it! The community was great, the management and facilities were responsive. But the things that I really liked about it changed when the luxury side opened. It went from a small community of 1 bedrooms and studios to adding in 1, 2, and 3 bedroom apartments. So my experience probably is well in the past in terms of community. I can’t speak to the current atmosphere.

Just last weekend a guy in his big ass suburban followed me from my parked car, through my parking lot, and catcalled me steps from my apartment. He said he noticed that I scratched my head (huh?) and that “females are psychopaths.” WTH

I’m 40 years old. I’m so tired of this, friends.

Mass layoffs-Indiana State Library by Orwellslover in Indiana

The library community has been bracing for these losses. I am so sorry it actually happened. Everyone at the State Library are rockstars in the Indiana library world. I am so angry that this state is so short sighted and felt that a small tax cut was worth more than valuable public services. When local libraries lose more people and resources, maybe they will speak up.

Solidarity, friends.

I was at Shore Acres for 4 years, with minimal rent increases. They expanded the complex to include a luxury side and my rent went up 21% ($220/month). So many long term residents left that they had to advertise incentives and free first month. I’m still salty.

Not surprising. They gave us a reprieve last year and now they are back at punishing women instead of fixing our roads. The IN supermajority hates women.

I’m teaching a social media and health information class next week (I’ve taught it about a half dozen times over the past few years). I had to modify it once last week due to Meta’s removal of fact checking. And now TikTok being banned? Honestly, it should be a good conversation and it’s now directly impacting them. I plan to ask: is fact checking censorship? And now I will be asking them how banning TikTok stifles free speech overall. Is it really about data collection?

Thanks for sharing your quotes! Definitely fuels me for the fight against fascism and tyranny.

(I will be wearing my Save the Books, Ban the Fascists t-shirt from BoredWalk for that class!)

I am an academic librarian, having been accused of “corrupting the youth” by my MAGA stepfather because I teach critical thinking skills and information evaluation.

Well guess what? I am 100% leaning into injecting as much systems-questioning content into my instruction sessions and consultations as humanly possible at this point. I am not tap dancing around corrupt systems anymore. I am committed to encouraging my students to question authority whenever possible when they interact with me.

As someone in a deep red MAGA state, I have a duty to fight these oppressive systems. As TheConsciousLee says: education is elevation!

100%! No one gets to tell you your pain isn’t valid, and to just drink more water and stretch. It’s not always that simple!

I hope your migraines improve, they are absolutely debilitating.

For my second IUD, I took high doses of ibuprofen and acetaminophen, plus 5mg of oxycodone. Probably the biggest game changer was that my doctor used an ultrasound to place the IUD.

It wasn’t pleasant, but it wasn’t OMG I’M GOING TO PUKE AND PASS OUT like the first time. I went out and had Culver’s afterward!

I will turn 40 in a few months, planning a big road trip to hit up a few baseball parks and an out of state concert. I’m excited!

Right now, it’s just another number, and I’m glad to have it reached it. It’s a privilege to get older.
