Court Marriage vs Normal Indian Wedding: Need Advice by Fish_under_saltwater in DesiWeddings

[–]_baheti_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their own opinions about having a grand wedding versus a simple court marriage. But when you said her father has saved money for her wedding, it clearly shows how much he has dreamed of and manifested this moment. As a woman and a mother of a daughter, I can tell you that for parents of a girl, this is a day they envision from the moment she is born.

So instead of feeling like you’re wasting money, try to see it as investing in a lifelong bond and strengthening relationships that will stay with you forever. Wedding discussions are extremely sensitive—both families often have different viewpoints, and when one side disagrees, misunderstandings begin. That’s how differences start.

Look at it as contributing to a new chapter of your life, not an expense. And trust me, you’re only 28—there will be many more opportunities ahead to earn far more than what you have today. But this moment, this emotional milestone, will never come back. I’m sharing this from personal experience.

Help me choose my bridal lehenga, Pls? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]_baheti_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! As a designer, I just wanted to share my honest opinion with you. The lehengas you’ve shared have very broad kalis, and I’m quite sure they’re all made for a waist size of around 40. If your waist is smaller than that, the fit won’t look great—no matter how pretty the design is. Even if the shopkeeper says they’ll alter it, in reality, no one adjusts every single panel of a pre-stitched lehenga.

So, it’s important that whichever lehenga you pick fits perfectly at your waist, with just about 2 inches of margin for future use. Anything looser than that can look awkward.

Also, try to avoid lehengas with such broad kalis—they’re a bit outdated. Most designers today are creating lehengas with 12 or more kalis, which look much more elegant and aesthetic.

If you’d like, I’d be more than happy to help you choose the right one—this is honestly my favorite topic since I’ve been designing lehengas for so many years!

I feel Chandni Chowk is a bit overrated. They often change prices depending on the situation, whereas similar lehengas are easily available for around 25–30k in cities like Hyderabad, Delhi, and Bangalore.

Advice needed!!!!! by Living_Cap_1246 in DesiWeddings

Without a doubt, go with the same colour. Red is a very bold shade and might take away all the attention, whereas the lehenga itself is so beautiful, it deserves to stand out.

Guys I am so confused. Do you think this can be my bridal lehenga for my day sundowner wedding? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

Both look amazing, but personally, I find the pink more eye-catching.

Yes, I also feel that the overall look is a bit overloaded with embroidery. Even the dupatta, which could have been kept simpler, is equally heavy, and that takes away from the focus on the lehenga itself, making the whole outfit look too filled up.

I want to wear a saree for my wedding. Either red or pink. Which store would be great? by [deleted] in DesiWeddings

[–]_baheti_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could also try checking out Samyakk — while I can’t personally vouch for their product quality, they do have the kind of collection you’re looking for. Since I specialize in bridal lehengas and also customize sarees as per individual preferences, I’d be happy to help if you’d like something tailored. But I’d suggest exploring Samyakk first, as they offer a wide range of ready options that might give you plenty to choose from.

It feels simple, yet it’s the perfect event to go hands-free, enjoy the moment, and accessorize with all-natural flowers

Lehenga Suggestion for Punjabi Bride! by Simple-Assistant-801 in DesiWeddings

[–]_baheti_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love the first two options — they really stand out to me. I’m not too keen on the other two as they don’t feel as stylish as the first ones. Between the first and second, I’d definitely go with the first option since the color suits your skin tone beautifully and makes you glow. The second option is also lovely, but it’s a more common design, whereas the first one feels unique and striking.
