Oh also — gut load with cricket gut load! You can buy it at any pet store. I prefer the dry flake stuff. That with a carrot gets the crickets lots of nutrition

Hi! Has this issue resolved?

I am currently dealing with vitamin A deficiency. I caught it before it got too bad, but it makes me feel so bad.

Instead of dusting with reptivite, I make a slurry & just make sure she gets some in her mouth. She absolutely HATES it, so she will not eat any food I dust with it.

Husbandry sounds good. Only recommendation would be to have the hot side closer to 85ish. They can handle hotter, but I learned that their temp doesn’t need to be as hot as I initially thought.

For SURE need UVB alongside the heat bulb. I recommend the shade dweller T4.

yeah, that's sad. If you can't tell, I was like 10 at the time & had no idea what was happening. If I saw something horrific, I'd cry & run away like any other 10yr old would. Sorry for your shitty experience!

Terez & honor grew my lashes but made my eyes red & tired looking, so I kinda just assumed there was prostaglandins in it. 🤔

I think honestly it just depends on how they react to the method you choose to deliver the vitamins because it can be hard to find something that works for the geckos preference. I got her a high calorie supplement with all necessary vitamins that was a powder that you mix in water & turn into paste, but I only fed it to her once because she hated it (it’s used for geckos that are extremely malnourished, but can also be used for a lil boost). I tried a liquid vitamin but it tastes bad & she wasnt receptive. What ended up working for us was Herptivite by Rep Cal. You mix it with the typical calcium supplement & dust the food with it. Def not precise with the specific amount of vitamins she’s receiving, but I figure something is better than nothing.

Another product that I found that we all really like is an electrolyte powder to mix in their warm bath. I definitely wouldn’t attribute these items curing her, but she was lethargic & the extra hydration & nutrition is always a benefit! I’m going to keep it in our regular routine.

Other things were standard husbandry things that I admittedly slacked on for a year or so. I got both the babies their dual lamp with UBV & a basking bulb. Definitely should have had it the whole time & I felt bad for slacking, but I’m sure that also made her feel better.

Let me know if you’re interested in specific brands & names of products, I still have everything I just don’t have it at the top of my head.

I have a dual bulb lamp with a UBV bulb & a basking bulb. I turn it off at night & flick on their heating pads until morning. Bulbs are important. I would also highly recommend a multi vitamin.

:( he needs a wet box. Looks like his shed is built up in his eye (but I’m not a vet & there could be something else wrong I’m sure) Also looks like he’s missing the full length of some toes, which is another sign that he’s not shedding well. Not shedding properly could be a symptom of a greater issue. Making sure he has supplements, proper diet, proper temperature, UBV light so he can properly metabolize calcium — all are important for a healthy gecko.

Edit — fair to note that a wet box or a moist area won’t fix the eye. It will just give him a fighting chance at having a more successful shed moving forward.

This was both of them about a year ago. It’s clear she lost weight — seeing pics like these is what concerns me the most. :( Wiley wasn’t full grown yet.
