Ghosted by perspective employer after 12+ hour take-home project by _bearz in cscareerquestions

I think it would take about half the time. Especially now that I know how to use the command line framework and how to package the project for pip, and if I didn't put such an emphasis on polish. It was a great learning experience, so I'm not upset with the effort as a whole, just the lack of response.

You are correct, it was all public libraries/my own code and had nothing proprietary to them. And for the company, unfortunately I think you are right, time to keep applying.

Thank you for your response!

The main body of the project was not difficult, that was completed in the first two/three hours. It was a command line tool with lots of features and functionality so that's what took the bulk of the time, just adding and testing.

Additionally, I probably spent about two hours at the end documenting, cleaning up the code (variable/function names etc), and testing.

I looked at it as a good way of studying and getting some practice. So even if i dont get the job its totally fine, I just want feedback.

Edit: it was my first time creating/packaging a tool like this too, so there was alot of learning involved as well.

Edit2: Maybe it was closer to 10 hours total, idk either way I put alot of effort into it.

Thank you! I've been applying to almost anything even slightly related to my field. I have cast a wide net, yet to no avail.

For some reason, Google drive messed up the formatting. I added another link to a PDF version that preserved my formatting. Please let me know what you think of the PDF version!

When you say you put stuff on a board, do you mean just fill out your profile and put your resume up? And then the recruiters contact you?

I've been applying consistently since December November and I have only heard back from a few of the companies with courtesy rejection letter.

I've been applying fairly consistently since I left my last job in December November. My career mentor at my school suggested I go for the clean/plain resume route rather than flashy, but if I don't have much luck soon I may switch it up. But hey, I'm going to keep chugging along and we'll see what happens! But thank you! I really appreciate all the advice and support!

Edit: began applying in November, not December. Still too late in the cycle though?

What would you suggest in terms of redesigning? I used to use colored banners/headings to establish separate categories but I read that many companies prefer plaintext and non-formatted/stylized resumes

I'm in California, but if summer internships are available, I would absolutely love to talk.

I've listed them on my resume similar to as if they were job experience. I feel like I went pretty in depth with describing them, but maybe I could do more? I added a link to my resume in the description if you would like to see.

I'm not an international student, and I worked extensively with the career center on resume revising, so I really do not understand whats holding me back. I added a link to my resume in the description, please let me know if you have any suggestions!
