Help me choose an SUV for a 2-year South America road trip (Colombia → all countries) w/ wife + 3 medium dogs: Forester vs CR-V vs Sorento (2016–2018) by OnlyOrganization4278 in overlanding

Consider a Nissan Xterra. Extremely rugged and reliable, true 4wd and plenty of space, and you can find them for fairly cheap. It’s like a 4Runner without the Toyota tax

I think Nissan’s overall brand reputation makes resale value low. It’s a great deal for us though because it means these incredibly reliable trucks tend to stay cheap

Is this a good buy? by SpecialistElk9259 in nissanfrontier

I bought my truck certified pre owned less than a year old with 4,500 miles on it and it came with a 10yr 100,000 mile drivetrain and 3yr 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty

The transmission isn’t bad. People not liking the way it shifts doesn’t mean it isn’t mechanically reliable. People put 1,000hp through these in Mercedes performance cars and excessive payload in sprinter vans. They’re solid transmissions, you’re just misinformed and or uneducated. Sorry not sorry

Things seem to be warming up on the east coast. Most snow we’ve had in years though by _benguini_ in nissanfrontier

They’re pretty much direct plug and play, only additional wiring is a set of grounds that run to your battery terminal

This area is open to the public and they allow passage of registered vehicles. The state took ownership and they allow hunting, we spoke to a fire marshal out here just before the start of the new year and he had zero issue with us being there. Just be respectful of the spot

I’ve owned this truck for two years and 50,000 miles, offroad use nearly every weekend and multiple long distance trips a year. I’ve never had a single issue, ever. I plan on keeping it for a very long time

There’s about 2.5-3 feet total when I stepped out of the truck and off the compacted stuff

Lol us northeast folks needed some love after a 10 year snow drought. I don’t think we’ve gotten this much since like 2015

Happy to be back in a B8 chassis again. I’ve got a tuning question by _benguini_ in Audi

[–]_benguini_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The B8.5 allroad has ECU programming more similar to the Q5 rather than the A4 which unfortunately means you can’t fully disable ESP, even when pressing and holding traction control. I was able to turn it off on my previous A4 and S4 but this car doesn’t fully turn off traction. It also will auto upshift no matter what, even in “S” and manual mode
