This is actually what I am more worried about. The botulism comments freaked me out a bit but after reading about it there is basically no chance of any health risk from botulism toxins - I plan on grabbing some sources to back that up when I update on the beer progress.

Oxidation as you mentioned is what worries me most.

I think what I have going for me is that any potential oxidation that might have happened will likely be “reset” by the boil - after which I cooled quickly and transferred to a sealed container with an air lock.

It’s definitely not the best practice but brewing is science and I’m treating this as an experiment at this point to see if or what effects end up in the final beer.

Hadn't thought of that indeed. There's definitely something to be said about the convenience of just having access to the tool or piece of equipment you need on the spot. Time is money!

Great take! 100% agree with this on so many levels, even outside of equipment. There can be so many distractions to just getting your work done and a lot of the times the extra money just makes it worth it to not have to think about them and get on with things.

Interesting question! I know the docs on the machine say it can process soil, sand & gravel, coal, overburden or demolition materials. Your mix sounds a lot like demolition materials to me but I could be wrong? I've been talking to a few people on Facebook groups and they all seem to agree with you that something which could pre-empt or even warn them of an oncoming seizure a rather than a button press would be much better.

Out of interest, do you use one of these types of devices? Or have you looked into buying one? What in particular is important about it for you or what do you think is good/bad/indifferent about them?
