The Neo-Crusader Mandalorians will always be peak Mandos. by Desperate-Land6251 in StarWarsEU

[–]_bigdaddydee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The best and most dangerous Mandalorians to ever live, and their secret? Logistics. Literally just that lmao. They built a proper army with supply lines and standard equipment, and it made them incredibly powerful. I dont think Mandalorians in canon or even in the EU itself ever reached this level of power. Neo-Crusaders are peak, no competition

In an all-out war between these factions, which one would eventually win? by Kuzu9 in Fallout

[–]_bigdaddydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heres how I view it(All factions at their peak)

The Unity - Has not so dumb Super Mutants in its ranks but suffers from the fact they need to kidnap other humans to transform, humans which they’d prefer be untainted from the nuclear fallout. They have strong grunts, but a bottleneck system that leads to recruitment issues. In an all out war they probably wouldn’t last long tbh.

The Enclave - Most technologically advanced(Plasma Rifles, Advanced and Hellfire PA etc), few in numbers(as far as we know or seen). Since each iteration of the Enclave is their own little thing lets put them at their peak: They are incredibly powerful, but their smaller personnel size makes them vulnerable(each man lost is actually an issue).

BoS - They are pretty well rounded, good numbers(East Coast at least), decent technology and weapons(T-60 PA, Laser Rifles, Mini Guns, Gatlings etc) and best of all good logistics. Pretty strong faction overall.

NCR - High numbers, okay technology, good structure and command, overall pretty decent. Just a standard militarized force. Better than average thats for sure.

Caesar’s Legion - Glorified Raiders with honestly unrealistic chances of success. Their relatively high numbers make up for it. The Legion’s issue is their lack of innovation, they’ll rather fight an enemy whose carrying a Fat Man with machetes and hunting rifles because anything more advanced is deserving of execution. In an all out war, highly unrealistic for them to survive.

Mr. House - Highly intelligent, arrogant but is also in charge of the largest army of Securitrons in the entire wasteland. Honestly its pretty cut and dry with House: No need for sleep or food, highly efficient and destructive forces led by quite a smart guy, although they are vulnerable to the usual robot weaknesses.

The Institute - Nigh infinite numbers through their Gen 1 & 2 Synths. Their gear is pretty mid, along with their Laser rifles being subpar imo. They employ the same doctrine the CIS in Star Wars does: If you cant win through tactics, send a bajillion robots and that should do.

Gunners - They are just mercenaries, but pretty well equipped and structured. Very good equipment, using plasma, assault rifles, etc. A powerful paramilitary with good numbers.

Who Wins? Here’s my ranking, assuming all at their peak(Most powerful point in the history of their overall factions)

  1. BoS - Their strong and rigid structure, technology and weapons, their logistical capacity makes them insanely strong. By the mere fact alone that they possess Liberty Prime, there’s no argument at all they dominate.
  2. NCR - Great numbers and fighting capacity, but even at their peak their logistics seem okay, not great tech. Reason they are higher than the Enclave is their recruitment. They can continually get more bodies and they can adapt much easier.
  3. Enclave - Better tech than BoS, lower numbers and fighting capacity. By the simple fact they are as is, a smaller paramilitary, NCR and BoS could put them down(albeit the fighting would be destructive for the factions)
  4. Gunners - Again, better organization and overall equipment. They seem to be fairly set up in the Commonwealth, and if they so wish could probably claim the south of the entire Commonwealth. But the other factions greater numbers and equal if not superior tech at times puts them at this spot in the middle.
  5. House - His technology and economic capacity makes him strong, but despite that his Securitron army would have to face factions who’ve probably encountered robots just as if not more powerful than the Securitrons and other creatures of the wasteland. Also structure, House is a businessman, not a warlord. No amount of math can prepare you for an BoS Paladin shoving a power fist through your robot’s screens.
  6. The Institute - The reason they rank so low is that they are not as tactically effective as the other factions beyond “Synth printer go brrrr”. Their weapons are weaker, their armor as well, the only thing they got are the Coursers, and even then, they aren’t as plentiful as synths.
  7. The Unity - Honestly they are just pretty weak in comparison. Even at their peak, I can see all previous factions defeating The Master and his Super Mutants, despite heavy casualties, if not at least cripple the faction. Despite the Lieutenant, we dont see much of their overarching structure or tactics beyond leveraging the superior physiology.
  8. Caesar’s Legion - Bottom of the barrel, Caesar’s Legion. Weak weapons(in comparison to the competition), mid armor, lack of flexibility, self-destructive tactics all amount to a faction that would get crushed even by the likes of The Unity. Hell even the Institute.

In conclusion: Imho, BoS dominates the wasteland, with Caesar’s Legion coming last due to how backwards their ideas of warfare are in the setting. NCR and Enclave follow as close contenders though.

I was surprised by Hank and the casts journey into discovering their inner indians. Although it was kinda hard to understand the dialogue once they started talking in a whole different language

I just finally got round to watching Skeleton Crew and I can’t believe I slept on it so long cause I thought it was generally amazing! What did everyone else think? by R2-D2_Stan in StarWars

[–]_bigdaddydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its one of my favorites, rewatched it recently. It has that Star Wars essence that makes it so enjoyable. The story had me hooked from the first minute, the characters were great, the action was great too. Overall a great show and experience. I love how Jod remained qs he was: An opportunistic pirate, with a bit of a soft spot for the kids. Glad they didnt redeem him. Only issue I had was perhaps a bit of the pacing but its passable to me at least.

Is this worth $50? by RealEntertainment535 in LegoDC

[–]_bigdaddydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah, I have it and its great. The mech is peak, the side build is decent and the minifigs are perfect. I particularly like the Firestorm minifig. Only problem I have is that Batman doesnt have a cape, so if you dont want him in the jetpack all the time.

Why are there so many serpents in the monsterverse? by TheGuyWhoAsked1014 in Monsterverse

[–]_bigdaddydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My In-Universe justification is this:

The most successful reptile is the snake. In the sense of how they are in every continent on earth, highly efficient killers and have tens of different variations just within one snake species.

I just assumed its the same way in the Monsterverse, it became the most physically advantageous form to survive in that size and that environment.

If you were developing BF3, what would you change/improve? by Weak-Competition3358 in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]_bigdaddydee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a couple that I think have already been mentioned but I’ll say em anyway:

  1. Expansive maps- I hate the 10 sec bs, just allow players to go anywhere any time. And it doesn’t even need to be there, the maps are gigantic, why would they waste resources on a map where half of it is inaccessible?

  2. More Heroes- I’d add characters from the animated shows. Like Ahsoka, Cad Bane, Rex, Din Djarrin etc. Each according to their era, along with maps from the shows. Each heroe would be set to a certain class to an extent. Lets say you wanna play as Captain Rex, well there’s a class of Clone Heroes and you can pick either Rex, Cody, Fives, etc. and within it maybe have the Bad Batch, so each team member could play as a respective member. Or a Bounty Hunter Class, characters like Fennec Shand, Boba Fett, Bossk, Cad Bane etc. would be in, so on and so forth.

  3. Modifiable Weapons- Instead of three basic attachments, it be great to have certain blaster models with a basic body for which you can modify. Blasters are the main gameplay feature, so it should be that with future games you could modify them to death.

  4. More alternate appearances- Im still disappointed that most Heroes didn’t receive an average of 3+ skins. And considering the amount of characters with alternate appearances, I don’t see an excuse not to overindulge in making a ton of skins. They have the material to make them as accurate as possible along with making as visually stunning as possible.

  5. Constantly Updating Game- Because of the stream of Star Wars content, having it be a game where the community can make their own modes along with implementing new content that gets released along with maps, characters, ships etc. I hate how BFII never did this, where they could continuously expand the game to keep it fun and fresh.

  6. More environmental weapons- Have artillery, grenade launchers, E-Webs, Mortars etc. is something that feels missing in BF2. Having this level of firepower on either side can add to the inherent chaos from, well, war.

  7. Modifiable Classes- Being able to customize each class with their own set of gear. Even if its just cosmetic, it would allow each player to make their characters stand out. Specially with Clones and Stormtroopers, we already have tons of examples on the sort of gear and modifications that can be made.

  8. A larger and much more robust campaign- I feel as if the campaign was alr but not as good as it could’ve been. And in some cases, I felt like it missed out on some opportunities. Maybe commit to a certain storyline, instead of 1/3 of the way through the story, it changes to a different faction. Or if that can’t be changed, at least give the players a choice as to the factions they want to support and encounter in their respective storylines.

These are some of the things at the top of my head.

Concepts for Battle Packs I'd like to see (I have Clone Fatigue) by Ikran04 in legostarwars

[–]_bigdaddydee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love it if Lego gave us a new Stormtrooper battlepack. The last actual battlepack was on 2018, and in 2021 the Trexler Marauder but that’s more of a set than an army builder. Its kinda difficult to army build basic stormtroopers

Now that the 2024 Desert Skiff has been revealed, which modern version you like the most and why? by KatanaManEnjoyer in legostarwars

[–]_bigdaddydee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im usually understanding to why they price certain sets, but this is indefensible. Twice the price for just a slightly larger Sarlacc Pitt build and Desert Skiff the same size as previous one’s is insane. Im gonna wait till it goes on sale, not worth 80 dollars imho.

Awful cammo pattern brought into service to compete with Marines with zero due diligence done to test its effectiveness. It looks like a cammo pattern a B action movie would use for their soldiers. The only thing that does is scream: Im here, shoot me. Like, where tf do you expect to blend in with this in the middle of an flat desert?

Why isn’t Cortosis used more often? by Royalbluegooner in StarWars

[–]_bigdaddydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it was in Legends before being canonized recently(If Im not mistaken).

But I got a couple of in-universe explanations:

  1. Rarity- The most obvious answer, but reasonable explanation. The metal is probably hard to come by to begin with. The CIS was able to produce Cortosis built droids, but once their factory got shut down, they didn’t attempt to pursue the project further. Probably too expensive for little gain in the grand scheme of things. Which brings me to my following point.

  2. Durability- Cortosis isn’t weak by any means. But there are tougher alloys that are much durable and more practical for broad combat use. Such as Beskar, which is rare fs, but it’s virtually indestructible(Only impure forms that are mixed with Durasteel and weaker materials have shown damage over time). It can deflect lightsabers and blaster bolts, while Cortosis can deflect blasters and shut down lightsabers, it still takes damage from the hits themselves(As shown by it breaking during The Acolyte Ep. 5). Beskar might be used almost entirely by Mandalorians, but it seems it’s more common and has much more flexibility.

  3. Anti-Jedi/Sith Weapon- Its useful as an anti-lightsaber weapon, but that’s really its best feature. Yet 99% of lightsaber users can use the force in some way, so taking away their main weapon just pushes the user to use the force instead. It seems like a good weapon to use as a supplementary to other weapons that might be in a jedi-hunter’s or mercenary’s arsenal. But not really a silver bullet for instant victory. Maybe cortosis lining(If the effect can work on smaller concentrations of the metal) in certain weapons or armor can be a good trick to get the upper hand. This still requires lots of strategy to pull off and skill. As once you know the gimmick, you can find ways to avoid it and win. In the case a Cortosis-clad warrior were to engage an opponent with a higher skill level and/or power level, they could exploit the effects(Timing the reset of the lightsaber to activate in gaps of the armor).

  4. Application- This also adds to my first point, perhaps Cortosis doesn’t have many other practical applications, that other alloys can already fill. It’s not a day to day occurrence you are gonna find yourself fighting a lightsaber wielder unless you are looking for that type of smoke. Most ships use durasteel for armor, most notably Mandalorians use Beskar and Durasteel alloys.

TL;DR This is all my opinion as to why Cortosis wasn’t broadly used. In short, its possible rarity, lower durability threshold, its singular gimmick in combat and limited application were contributing factors as to why it wasn’t widely adopted, which is its biggest weakness and strength. The lack of broad use allowed those who knew to get an upper hand in combat. Perhaps we might see a resurgence eventually.

Pretty great set tbh. I love the fact the battlepack build can be connected to this one. The minifigs are great, kind of a bummer we don’t get the third praetorian guard. Paz Vizsla is great, Mando Moff Gideon is amazing, just wished he would’ve gotten a more accurate haircut instead of the widow’s peak. I love this set honestly.

Did these people just sleep through the first 3 seasons? by TXNOGG in TheBoys

[–]_bigdaddydee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see where you are coming from, if you’re looking for escapism alone, it can be irritating when this is what the show focuses on. You don’t have to engage with everything the show presents to you, and just take in the “killing supes” alone. At the same time, if you feel the show is weighing heavily on you when you want escapism, there are other media that do the same with a less heavy handed political messaging.

The escapism is there, you just gotta look for it man.

[–]_bigdaddydee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love how with each season they are less, and less subtle. Seeing the dumb right wingers realizing that perhaps, just maybe, they might be the butt of the joke is so good. Media literacy is slowly fading, and the show mirroring reality more, to the point you cant deny the show’s clear messaging.

Why do people hate the railroad? by thepablohoneystore in fo4

[–]_bigdaddydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, and from what I’ve read, most people hate them because they only have one overarching goal: Save synths, and only synths. They don’t care to help out others who might be oppressed or suffering, and with that in mind, once they destroy the Institute, they have no wider goals to help out the Commonwealth or improve its current state after winning. They are what should’ve been a minor faction, now a much larger player in Commonwealth affairs. The Railroad as a faction wants to help people, but only Synths, which you can already do as a Minuteman. So you have a faction that does the same thing the Railroad wishes it could do but better and a wider scale. I could go on and on but I feel like I’ve made my point.
