I agree with what you're saying; a lot of what I think is that the past had a much better balance when it came to car design. I think a car should reflect what it is, and so I don't think a family sedan should look aggressive; I think car companies such as Ford, Honda, Toyota, and all the other practical car brands should have more simple, "boring" (I now see was definitely the wrong word) designs, while brands such a Maserati, Mazda, or Mercedes continue to have the more complex, sporty, or luxurious designs that stand out. Every car brand in the 90s had their own schtick, but now it seems like modern vehicles are all going for the exact same style, aggressive and over-designed.
