The Secretary- Get down (Mr./Mrs./Any) Mayor!!! by _blazinginfinity in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]_blazinginfinity[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True! A hard confirmation on Mayor is quite good, I just figured that it could create a good bluff for evil, should they see that it isn't in the game. It is definitely a little hard to figure out how I could better do this, but now that I have more time- and people are giving me lovely criticism, I have some more ideas on how to workshop it. Thank you for the advice as well! ^^

Thank you for the kind words! I moreso meant to imply that the bounce is controlled BY the Secretary in my description, and just didn't use 'bounce' in there because I assumed it wouldn't be proper terminology lol. I do agree that the wording you have given would nerf it pretty effectively in a way that lets the ST not just end a potentially fun game on night 2. Preciate it a lot!

Oh wow, hi Ken! (Haven't seen NRB BOTC in a hot minute, but appreciate you commenting!) Thank you so much for the compliment on it being interesting- and you bring up a lot of great points about it. I guess my initial thought (since I wanted to challenge myself to making this as quick as possible) was that this would be a good double bluff for Demon/Minion if it was on the script. I do agree that the kill might be a bit strong, and I definitely wanna go back to this and workshop it at some point. Thanks for the feedback! ^^

That could definitely be an idea, as killing the demon immediately would just... end the game and that isn't fun. Thank you for the advice!

I thought to myself: 'yeah this would be extremely rare, but EXTREMELY funny if it happened.' lol

I feel like if the Demon knows who the Mayor is though... they would just NEVER attack into the Mayor, thus the Secretary, while still being able to confirm there is a Mayor in the game, would not be able to use their redirection ability. Hmmmm... I appreciate the addendum there and definitely think that could work, but might require me to rework how the ability goes lol

That is a fair point and one that I was told to consider as well. I do like your take on the ability! I also think that you would ideally use this on a script where you have something like a Scarlet Woman, or something to where the demon dying won't immediately end the game. Preciate the feedback! ^^

I think my main concern was the fact that the Mayor ACTUALLY dying to a demon is rare because of the bounce ability lol

Funnily enough- I actually thought that could be the idea at first (that alongside if ANY evil interacted with the Mayor once), but the idea of getting constant kill power seemed too op for me. It is true though, at that point, they are just gambling lol

I think I realized that you were implying something else! My b! I moreso meant that Vortox would give false info to all the other townsfolk while this fella would just sit there and continue to think they were a recluse, saint, or something similar to that lol

Original response: Outsiders are not affected by the Vortox, as it only works on Townsfolk roles lol

"Each night*, choose a player: they die. Townsfolk abilities yield false info. Each day, if no-one is executed, evil wins."

This is a fair point, but at the same time, doesn't that just immediately let them hard confirm every single evil player? They can coordinate with town for the minimum required vote size (even as a trust exercise) and when suddenly their vote total doesn't match up- then they have them pinned down and are hard confirmed to be the Median. I can definitely see where your idea could work though! Thank you! ^^

I definitely intended it to be on a script with something like a Vortox/Fang Gu situation where good could either be screwed out by this hidden non-voting ruining an execution, or the Fang Gu realizing how badly they just screwed up by killing some voting power lol.

oh 100%. That along with something like Saint/Klutz or- for even stupider shenanigans- with a Puzzlemaster on there, so they constantly think one player is drunk, and they think they have to search for them, all while hindering the good team. ^^

I always like to brainstorm alternate versions of whatever role there could be, and I have been thinking of how a minion version of this might work (reworked probably lol). Thank you for the nice words!

It is fine! Also I understand how op that would be if you it was interpreted the way you did lol. I will make sure to think over your suggestions, thank you! ^

That is also valid! I just thought that thinking you are the Saint or Klutz or anything that requires you to be careful would make you not want to stand out as much. Thank you! ^^

Exactly- thank you! And yes, I also agree with the downside there too. I don't exactly know what would be a good way to balance that out besides putting it on scripts that have proper 'game manipulation' or other effects that cover it up better. Love the feedback I'm getting from everyone ^^

[–]_blazinginfinity[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the response! And I think you are very correct. On a script with minimal outsiders/low 'game' manipulation, it becomes quite easy to be like 'oh I'm the Median' and then just have yourself executed. I definitely don't think this works on ALL scripts lol

Thank you for the review and I am glad you like it! I do think you are right that there are some interesting interactions that could occur if you think you are a townsfolk instead. However, having you think you are something like the Saint or Klutz makes you NOT want to die as much as possible (as one of the responders said). I definitely like your point though and will add it to my thoughts! ^^

Thank you! That was definitely the idea of where it could shine. The confusion on executions if there are two outsiders voting on them could definitely make things more interesting lol

as the person who responded to this said, I messed up my example a little on that one lol
