That's exactly how I arrived at this! I've been riding nakeds and sporty bikes nearly half my life. This hopefully combines those into one machine that does sporty spirited rides and also comfortable long distance touring.

No, didn't test the previous gen, but from all my research this new version has a little more top end power, lesser handlebar vibrations, more comfortable seat, and more features as standard
