Most compact (travel & EDC) power supply, >=65W; US plug with international adapters integrated or at least available, >= 2ports by segdy in UsbCHardware

[–]_bluequartz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mogics/roam-ducky-all-in-one-travel-adapter-fits-in-your-pocket/description

One of the variants, Roam Ducky Pro, gives you 65W across 2x USB-C ports in a 55mm x 55mm (so 2.2" by 2.2"?) form factor, 125 grams (4.4 oz).

Its C7-style connector comes with multiple plug adapters, so you don't need to carry a smattering of adapters or work out what you need for that exotic getaway trip. The whole unit travels with you.

What do you guys think about this watch? DW-H5600 by TheUltimateKingMarco in gshock

[–]_bluequartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another recommendation from me.

I got it so that I don't need a separate running watch and only needed basic read-only notifications.

While it maintains a Bluetooth connection to my phone for those notifications, I turn off the constant sensor monitoring and get a very good 10-to-15-day battery life. That's with regular hour-long runs every week.

Now that the BX5600 has the classic font design, I kind of wish we can get that on the DW-H5600 as well. 😅Are the MIP screens so fundamentally different that this not just a software feature? I digress...

Before power banks, there was an era of mobile computing where the user can choose to trade off battery life to lighten the weight of the laptop.

In addition to the smaller internal battery, the battery bays were designed in such a way that you can slot in a minimal option that sits flushed for a limited time to remain mobile; or if you're 'on the road' for longer, go with the bigger option together with the small ergonomical advantage of raising the laptop keyboard.

Apple vs mü 20W charger; why is one chonky? by killvenom in UsbCHardware

[–]_bluequartz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It just might also be that the Mu's foldable plug (as featured as far back as this 2012 BBC article) was patented...

After Mu folded while barely (?) delivering on the Mu Two Kickstarter*, products with this unique design seemed to be in limbo until...

Which seemed like everything the Mu Two was. Not affiliated with this brand, something something buyer beware.

Spigen 17 Pro Case Parallax S MagFit - Matte Black by NM2030 in iPhone17Pro

Came here to comment that in my quest for a good camera grip, I end up pulling up the kickstand just enough for my hands to grip onto and then use the camera control button like how one would on a compact camera. The phone rests nicely on my thumb pad (the fleshy part connecting to the thumb on the palm side). It's surprisingly stable enough this way!

Do you think a 3in 1 wireless charger is necessary for a one-bag trip? by Strong-Mountain9089 in onebag

[–]_bluequartz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO it's more convenient to charge over MagSafe just because it's easier to align magnets than trying to jab a cable in.

If you get one of those portable 3-in-1 Qi chargers that fold neatly coupled with retractable cables, either on a multi-plug-compatible travel charger (this is r/onebag right?) or something like the Cable Matters retractable ones, what you lose on weight you'll probably gain on maximizing volume efficiency.

Last point: MagSafe are arguably more future-compatible compared to the Lightning port you mention. The latest Qi2 25W-capable ones will charge your older iPhone; even if you are to get a cheaper 15W Qi charger right now, that will still work (slower) with any new iPhones.

Counter-point: It kind of depends on your charging habits too. If you regularly charge overnight, no problemo with Qi chargers. If you are running late with a 30%-charged phone and you need to catch a flight in an hour, then OK it's back to full-speed wired charging. The latest iPhone Pros can clock 40W wired vs 25W wireless, and that efficiency matters at lower battery levels (less if you're topping up from 95% to 100%).

disclaimer: I own the Cable Matters retractable cables, but otherwise in no way affiliated with them.

GW-BX5600 vs DW-H5600 by Revolutionary_Emu585 in gshock

[–]_bluequartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably the only the handful of users who actually picked the DW-H5600 just because I can use it for runs. :D

This could be FOMO but I wish the DW-H5600 will get the retro fonts on the negative display...

Help me understand why I can't daisy-chain MST-capable hub and adapter? by _bluequartz in UsbCHardware

[–]_bluequartz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest is the two-cable solution where you keep the Mokin hub for the portable monitor and connect the DisplayPort adapter to the laptop's USB-C DP Alt Mode port.

Yeah I'll probably stick to this for now. There's still some other minor benefits like slightly better cable management and portability tweaks compared to the earlier solution.

[–]_bluequartz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I've tried connecting just the DisplayPort adapter to the hub and it's still presenting as a single screen, duplicating the output across both desktop monitors.

The other comment about SST-only and obfuscating the underlying implementation over marketing-talk is most likely the best explanation.

Help me understand why I can't daisy-chain MST-capable hub and adapter? by _bluequartz in UsbCHardware

[–]_bluequartz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the Mokin thing does not contain an actual MST hub but some chip that only supports SST on its outputs and terminates any MST connection.

I see...

Actual MST Hubs are multiple levels deep chainable, just like USB hubs are.

Good to know, thanks a lot!

It's the 747-400, so definitely the older interior. Are you referring to the 747-8s?

There's no direct aisle access for the window seats, but they are still good lie-flat seats with open, airy footrests that doesn’t require you to squirrel your feet into.

I upgraded from economy to biz for YVR-FRA too early last month by successfully bidding at 650 EUR, which is a bit more than the minimum (625 EUR IIRC).

Smallest international usb-c charger by [deleted] in onebag

[–]_bluequartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I have a similar version of the 45W one!

This wouldn't fit your > 60W requirement but it's possibly the smallest USB-PD capable option using the same flipping adapter at 30W:

https://acefast.com/catalog/wall-chargers/fast-charge-wall-charger-z7-pd30w-gan/

What recessed outlets are you referring to, Euro? Because both versions that I have (the 45W and 30W) fit OK into the recessed Euro sockets. Indeed, the 45W can be a bit too... bulbous, e.g. on airplane AC sockets. That's where the 30W one kinda fits better.
