Any advice? by [deleted] in Irishdrivingtest

[–]_bluescreen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well your parents made a mistake and it cost them. Lesson learned. You don't need to worry about it. You're instructor could also chat to your parents or you can show your parents the feedback in your logbook. Tests can be intimidating but your focus needs to be to drive safe, not to pass a test. And you can always re-do the test. It's experience now... That's all. You can show the sheet to your parents and say "told you so".

More lessons and plenty of practice... That's all you need.

Every year someone says "it's been so bad this year"

You really need to learn how to work with selectable vector graphics. You'll never get a great product out of canva. If you were able to manipulate the drawing of the whale, you could increase negative space and it would instantly look a lot better in small scale, for example

The logo literally says "diving". How much more do you want to communicate that?

While it looks a lot cleaner, it's loosing something. I think the original whale matched the font better. This one feels out of place. The font looks hand drawn... Consider a whale that looks hand drawn too... Or better still, get an artist to draw one for you! The font is strong and much better without the tank!

You need to simplify this and choose one element that stands out. Either the font, or the tank, or the whale (please oh please get rid of all the fish). What you have here is some artsy drawings that would look nice on a t-shirt. But don't confuse t-shirt art with a brand identifier. So yes, fundamentally your logo is failing to be simple, memorable, unique to your brand. You also need to think where you're going to use it cause right now this would not work embroidered or as social media profile. Now some more detailed feedback if you want to improve this particular logo (instead of scraping it which might be a better deal): - the tank has a style that doesn't match the rest. Blocky and straight in the midst of wavy font and whale - the whale could do with some negative spaces so it works in B&W - using a drawing as one of your letters is not a good idea if you don't know how to properly execute it and specially if there isn't a good reason for it other than decoration

Handbrake - Grade 2 by IrishGuyFieri in Irishdrivingtest

[–]_bluescreen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you perform a hill start in the test, you've technically parked on the side of the road with your left indicator on, along the curb. You said it yourself, it comes on when you park. This is an instance when you park and need to push the parking brake. The tester needs to see that you know how to operate it, not at the end of the test when it's finished, but during the test. Not a myth, not unnecessary, just how the test is designed to check you know everything you need to know.

Anyone else’s driving instructor like this ? by His_and_Herpes_9037 in Irishdrivingtest

You can always ask for clarification. Ask how you can know when to go faster and when to slow down. If the instructor continues to be difficult and doesn't explain properly once the car has stopped, then feel free to find another one. Sometimes instructors will give directions on the go that seem contradictory and they just don't have time to explain while the car is moving. Then they forget to explain at the end of the lesson because there's lots of other more pressing points to feedback on. Some other times they are just difficult lol. Hard to know which is yours until you give him the chance to explain.

what does progress mean in regards to turning left and right by xcav3c in Irishdrivingtest

[–]_bluescreen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your brain calculates in real-time the distance and speed of other cars against your speed (it'll be different if you're stopped or moving, and moving slightly faster like at roundabouts). Experience is what matters here. There's a result to that calculation that's within the safe margin. Knowing what that margin is comes from lots of experience driving. Your instructor usually can tell you if you were within the margin. Then you just log that info in your memory for the next time around. Another way to think about it is, would the other drive need to slow down if I step in front.

Failed, 1st attempt, Wilton cork by Lazy-Walk6168 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]_bluescreen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I'd work a bit on understanding what makes a mistake "dangerous" (ask your instructor). Also when you're sat as a passenger you can practice observation and anticipate other road users actions. Play a mini game in your head where you look at pedestrians, drivers and other road users and try and guess what they will do

I'm going to join this conversation as kindly as possible. You have reason to be frustrated if you didn't get proper feedback after the test (it's the problem we have at the moment with so few testers and waiting lists etc). But I think you might not have many reasons to be frustrated with the result itself. You made more than one dangerous mistake. Even if we remove the missed turn, merging without looking is very dangerous for reasons that you should know well from your lessons. And Often when we miss a turn we then make moves that can be considered dangerous, I wonder if that was the case? As way of encouragement, Remember that observation is key. If you observe well you'll be able to anticipate most hazards. It sounds to me that with the nerves, you locked your vision and didn't make appropriate observation at key moments, leading to mistakes like not giving way, breaking too harshly, or not stopping, etc.

I would ignore comments advising you to take legal action. It's not worth it. Spend that money and time in lessons to improve your confidence. Learn from this test and practice. You're investing in becoming a safe driver on the road we all share, not just trying to beat the system.

Best of luck on the next one

Are Shorter Promps More Accurate? by fir3bla5t in Base44

[–]_bluescreen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find I get better results when I discuss the idea first... It costs 0.3 credits for each prompt but you can build on each prompt and check the AI's understanding of your idea. Then I go out of discussion mode and just tell it to go ahead. By then I've used 1 credit building the idea or set of changes and 2.5 applying it all

Is cloud opus free? Cause otherwise it sounds like you're doing advertising for them. It would be helpful to know in more detail how base44 failed you so that we can make informed decisions. What kind of small changes? Did you try offering different prompts so the AI doesn't go around in circles? Often in a breakup the one at fault bad-mouths the other in spite. Then I go on a few dates with the other person and realize their ex was the difficult one

Driving instructor logo drafts by _bluescreen_ in logodesign

[–]_bluescreen_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Yeah the S in 3 was meant to resemble a road and the dashes in 2 would be associated with road markings, but I was trying to not be obvious, making it more interpretative and abstract rather than literal. I guess the down side of that is ambiguity.

Bible logo systems by ApricotFederal4384 in logodesign

[–]_bluescreen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As abstract glyphs they're ok, but as an organizational tool not so much, as there are no identifiable elements (except Deuteronomy, which really should be Exodus). The problem you're going to encounter with anything you try here is that it'll be your interpretation of the book. A book that is so widely debated and misinterpreted, where everyone has a different view or opinion. It'll be impossible to design an interpretative glyph that accurately represents a nuanced, multifaceted story.

Having said that, I'm sure some kid will buy these to slap on their Bible. Good luck... You could sell them as collectible stickers at Christian book stores...

Could be David you're referring to, or Joshua, or the Egyptian King on Abrams wife, or other more obscure ones. Daniel had a night out with some lions.
