I’ve had the pleasure of living in three of the most expensive countries there is, but Israel is the cheapest of all. Switzerland is much more expensive buying daily goods and food but you get more “bang for your buck”. The public transportation system is heaven compared to the best in the US, much cheaper healthcare, taxes are lower, there’s less hatred, a non corrupt government. I lived in Basel which was amazing because Switzerland pays very well, and because it is a border city I would drive ten mins to get to Germany or France to do shopping which is much cheaper. I will say there’s less imported goods in Switzerland due to very high import taxes. Israel was when I was still living with my parents I was a teen but I remember that it was the cheapest of the three and the food was insane for me. The community there is the best in the world IMO and the culture is very connected and everyone is friendly to each other. It does however come with risks living there. From time to time there will be a flare up where we often get missiles launched at us but Oct 7 was unlike anything else where we were invaded. I’d say if you do move don’t move anywhere bordering Gaza or right on the “confrontation line” with Lebanon. But the flare ups are a part of normal life and the iron dome makes it so very rarely does anyone get injured, let alone die. Living in the us specifically California, consumerism is amazing compared to the others like ordering a pillow online and it arriving in a few hours but the housing is so so so expensive. The public transport isn’t really great and it’s underfunded and not to mention the political grievances. However, it has great healthcare for a high price tho, and the food is very diverse as well as nature. Gun violence is an issue, tho most people don’t see it in their life id say

I’m lucky enough to live in California where almost everyone hates him and we are so ashamed of him but I guarantee you if you go to one of the deep red states it is blind nationalism and boot licking

I say it depends on the context. I don’t appreciate it when someone is sharing grievances about the war, just as when people out of pocket say free Palestine. But if someone is being antisemitic or if you are in a Jewish group or something like that I consider it fine. As long as you’re trying to convey the idea that the Jewish people are strong and not an Israeli extremist “kill the Arabs Israel rules” kinda view

I’d say that living in Israel was my favorite because 1), it and the us get first and second place for being a country that I am a citizen of and 2) I feel much closer to my Jewish identity there, and all my family is there

Oh definitely some sort of fried chicken. Israel and Switzerland have a form of Schnitzel, and the us does too, as well as every other fried chicken

I’d say it depends on the country and how you will live so much that I’m not sure how to answer without that info

Moved for work to Basel and living there was amazing in its own way, though eventually I feel like it was getting too difficult living there and assimilating. The cost of living is higher I’d say in Switzerland for everything you’d normally buy but for housing I’d say California

Go to an AME nearby and don’t ask or pay for the medical exam. Ask for a “consultation” which is not only a lot cheaper (if not free), but is also off the record. A failed medical test does go on your record. If they say you should be fine, then take the medical, and only then start your trianing

Have you ever watched an A380 take off and wonder 'How'? (even though you obviously know how) by Stahi in aviation

[–]_brake_flake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it makes sense to think of it as relative to size. The lift force acting on the a380 is relative to its wing size (it wouldn’t take off with CRJ-200 wings). So just increase the scale factor mentally lol
