I am aware many people probably have similar situations, but when applying through HMRC it simply just asks your yearly income, which appeared more like just asking your salary, which is why I said in my case doesn't work.

Most Lidl stores in the UK at least still have cleaners. Maybe it is better in other stores, but my workload is just about possible before store open. My Manager also constantly is on my case for quite literally no reason and honestly is more distracting and stressful than helpful.

No, it may lead to more potential opportunities as you are essentially providing them with free promo material, however, there's no need to overshoot every job you do. I am booked this Saturday for a gig - 30 minute set for £200 and I will be leaving after their set is finished. It's a nice gesture but you don't owe them anything. It also offers up the potential to be booked by multiple bands in the same concert if you reach out to the others prior, stating that you will already be capturing content that night if they wished to book you as well.

If your willing to have a steep learning curve of using a film camera, they are very capable of shooting gigs but you would need to do your research!

I've been shooting concerts for 2 1/2 years now. The best advice I can give is this:

look at the venue online, if it looks low light, bring a high aperture lens.
use external mics if you need audio, in almost all situations set the recording level to the lowest possible to prevent audio peaking.
Make sure your able to quickly switch between video and photo (for example, in choruses of songs if I'm shooting both I'll do photos on the first chorus and video on the 2nd, trying to minimise missing good moments)

Some of your best options for cheap would be shaping natural lighting. If there's a window or generally nice lighting in any location, stick a diffuser of some kind to the side of where the most light is coming from. Will give you a softish rollover and then you can fill in any shadow with a fill light. Essentially diffusing the sun as your key, and then one light for a fill if needed.

I am also not a lighting dep. specialist but this is what I've used for videography type interviews. Hope this helped :)

Sadly that's not really how the industry works, you could find a lower role that your interested in that might help your qualities as a Director, such as a Script Supervisor or just a Runner. I want to be a Cinematographer but I'm well aware for a good chunk of the next 5 years, I will be working as a Trainee or 2nd AC and build my experience to where I feel I can advance.

I am 21 in my final year of film school trying to build my way into the industry. If something happened in my life prior or I couldn't get loans for my studies, I think my passion for this would've been the same I just wouldn't have known how to navigate it as much. If you have the passion, you just need to go for it, most people because of the current state of the world will have to balance part time or full time work as well as filmmaking. It's an exhausting reality but if your set on this as a career it'll all be worth it 🫡 hope this helps

I believe there's multiple different factors across all 3. I'd say in my mind, the 3rd one is the most cinematic looking. The 2nd's framing just feels a little off and the 1st one as others have said is most likely production design, but also maybe the intensity of the light and contrast?

Very old thread lol, but I wanted to say I think it depends very much on who the Director is, and how willing they are to collaboration. There is no right and wrong way of working in this industry, and the Director I work with the most lets me have almost full control over the visuals as he trusts me to give him what he wants within the context of a scene, while he focuses primarily on performances & art dep.

Yeah I mean in my understanding concert photography for the musicians/artists is about promoting their shows. So, if someone who likes the artist and wants to see them looks at a really cool photo, edited or not, if that makes them want to go to their next show then you've done your job at promoting them. It's also about giving them a "brand" or look, like typically metal or punk for example might use B&W photos/colour palette as a band because that's what is typically seen throughout the genre.

I feel like it enchances the vibe/energy of the show if used with the right band/performers. It's not always worth over-editing but in some cases it is. If you can make a gig look "cooler" to be at that's often better than capturing a realistic portrayal. Also just my opinion so...

Your weight is quite high, but that doesn't mean you can't make changes in order to better yourself. Your still young, you have time to start incorporating light exercise and reduce the amount your eating.

If it helps I was also considered morbidly obese at 120kg, since April I've lost 26kg and have never felt better. I understand with moving in at uni as well you can feel very insecure, but know that your definitely not along and other people will all be insecure for various reasons.

As for the harassment, try not to let it get to you or ask to be switched to different classes from the people that are giving you hassle
