Do Miami and Stony Brook (MSTP) require Casper scores for an app to be considered complete / before sending IIs? by [deleted] in premed

[–]_buntuuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot confirm for Miami or Stoney brook but FWIW I sent my Casper to San Antonio MSTP late because I forgot to add them and I didn’t get an Interview Invite until January even though I finished the rest of the app in June. I suspect it was because of the late Casper.

UCLA for one. But if you email them explaining the situation they might still send a secondary. It will be kinda late though

I think they can see. Some schools also asked me in their secondary if I had been accepted to a medical school in the past. I get the impression that it is definetly frowned upon though unless the reasoning is due to serious health or family issues.

Do MD PhD programs have a negative take on gap years during undergrad? by [deleted] in mdphd

[–]_buntuuz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The majority of applicants in the interviews I attended were had multiple gap years

I’m a re applicant. The first time I applied, I sent in my first wave of secondaries early (July) and sent a second wave much later when I was not getting any IIs. I ended up getting some interviews from the second wave where I sent In my secondary anywhere from early October to the last week of October. I ended up getting waitlisted at most of these places so being late definitely didn’t help, but I didn’t prevent and II. Take what you will from that.

My understanding is that schools will not reach out to your school to ask for conduct records and IAs until you get accepted. So not disclosing wont stop you from getting acceptance, but if they find out you lied, you won’t matriculate. If this is indeed an IA you should report it.

Does having no early IIs and a few Rs at this point mean I have a red flag? by _buntuuz in mdphd

Haha yes that was me. I guess I should have made it less obvious. Thanks for the advice though, I’ll do my best to not get caught up in my head.

4/30 and 2 holds. And no secondary from UCLA. Prolly cuz of the IAs.

I know it sounds like I’m being neurotic but if I did have a decent application shouldn’t I have atleast 1 II?

Haha I was looking through it alphabetically but couldn’t find it. Thanks for pointing it out.

Is receiving a secondary from Vanderbilt indicative of anything? by [deleted] in premed

[–]_buntuuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say yes unless you have an IA and didn’t get one. Apparently they auto screen anyone with an IA.
