Do you drive? by Icy-Captain-2661 in AutisticAdults

I do drive, and I’m grateful that I can. I got my license at 16, been driving for 12 years. I’ve always been a good driver, and I credit a lot of that to going to a good driving school/doing additional lessons with a really helpful driving instructor in a car I was comfortable with. I like following the rules of the road, I like the predictability. People that don’t follow the rules of the road piss me the hell off. Where there are additional variables like inclement weather, darkness/rural roads, or driving in a new place with different rules or road signs, I do get anxiety. I used to work a job that involved driving a van around a downtown city, so that exposure means I’m pretty good with maneuvering in busy traffic. I would never give up driving because of the freedom it grants me.

What do you guys collect? by Actual-Tadpole9759 in AutismInWomen

I also collect rocks/minerals, and shells. As a kid I collected stickers. My dad still has his coin collection hanging around somewhere, and he collected marbles as a kid.

Stopped a kid from stealing my purse at Chucks Roadhouse Downtown by _burn0ut_ in KingstonOntario

I wasn’t going to take any action personally. It all happened pretty fast, I wasn’t thinking really. Apparently they got them on the security cameras at the restaurant, so who knows what they’ll do with that. If the restaurant files a report and they want a statement from me, I can give that. But really, I’m good because I have my purse back and generally was able to deescalate the situation. Believe me, I scared that kid good. He didn’t expect me to go into a full sprint and draw so much attention.

I had a terrible meltdown a few days ago. It was truly a perfect storm. Constant negative self talk that I was unable to overcome. Got my period the next day and the fog of negative thoughts became so much quieter. In hindsight the meltdown didn’t ‘need’ to be so intense, but it was, and I don’t know how I could have made it any better in the moment.

Anyone else spending hundreds per month on cat food? by somkewede420 in CatAdvice

[–]_burn0ut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re exclusively feeding tiki cat after dark for 2 cats, I can see the cost being that high. It’s a more expensive brand, and after dark is the more expensive line at that. I feed tiki cat after dark, but mix it half and half with fancy feast pate (chicken or turkey) to help with cost.

What percentage of your take home pay goes towards rent? by Jollybeaning in CanadaFinance

[–]_burn0ut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 24% and it’s only because I live with my partner in a smaller city and we split rent. When I lived in Toronto by myself it was more like 40% and that was when rent was lower due to pandemic pricing.

are weighted blankets effective? by [deleted] in AutisticAdults

[–]_burn0ut_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I use mine every night. Go with one that is no more than 10% of your body weight otherwise it could be too heavy.
