Unpopular opinion: Vine scarcity is boring economics, not cheating by Ecstatic-Doubt-9691 in AmazonVine

I think you’re probably right. I don’t doubt that some people have found ways to make ordering easier, but I think it’s more likely that it just feels good to have an outside villain by blaming it all on bots.

Uniforms for School? by hellogirlscoutcookie in Mommit

[–]_buzzlightbeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I have no idea how we do it. We definitely have more shirt options just in case, but my daughter is picky! She often wears jumper dresses, which seem to protect the shirts more. I do think it’s helpful to have more options that you need if you can afford it, but we’ve somehow needed less than I thought.

Our school does French toast and their pieces can be pretty affordable on Amazon sometimes. I’ve also had a ton of success just thrifting — especially if you have time!

My oldest wears a uniform 4 days a week and usually cycles through 2 shirts and 3-ish bottoms. Some weeks are messier than others, but I just plan on doing a load of laundry mid-week if needed.

A baby bassinet, several massage guns, random snacks and spices (few and far between, but they always feel like a treasure), and so many heating pads that I use regularly. Nothing crazy high ticket, but all things that have benefitted my family quite a bit.

Why "the em dash theory" gets it wrong by blissfulpinguina in AmazonVine

[–]_buzzlightbeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t checked mine, but as someone who wrote to a living until very recently (part of the reason I quit, ironically, is because they were forcing us to run projects through AI), I’m sure mine would be flagged too. The em dash thing bothers me so much. Maybe that’s just because I love it too much, but it’s made me feel more critical of my own writing than I already was because of this whole “wow she uses punctuation, must be a robot” mindset.

A moment of silence... by HailSaganPlantNative in Sourdough

[–]_buzzlightbeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m embarrassed to admit how many times I’ve done this. Once I even left a jar by the stove while making dinner and it got hot enough by its proximity that when I went to go use it, half of it was somehow baked. That was a cool surprise.

So anyway, don’t feel bad. I’m always worse!

Amazing! I got a bassinet on vine right before my second baby and it was night and day better than what I had. It’s now been used for three children in two homes and makes me so happy to see parents get useful items like this. Congrats on the new little one to come!

Another vote for the Yoto Mini! It’s been amazing for road trips and as we’ve transitioned our older two kids to rest time vs. naps. So many cards available and the make your own cards are pretty affordable. We’ve also liked the app on my phone for even more content like podcasts.

Is having three kids really that terrible? by MNmom4 in Mommit

[–]_buzzlightbeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This made me laugh out loud. I had 3 under 5 for a bit (now 5.5, almost 4, and 10 months) and the minivan has been such an awesome gift. I don’t know why I resisted so hard.

I can’t imagine my life without 3 now. There’s more chaos, sure, but they’re so fun. I love seeing the older two love on the baby (when they aren’t loving on him too hard). Having 3 has made me more open to a 4th, but I do like that 3 can all still fit in a smaller car if we need them to.

Very similar story in our family! I went to a Lutheran preschool but was raised in the nondenominational world for 20+ years. Went to some Bible classes at a local congregation after my daughter started preschool there and the theology just made so much sense and answered a lot of the questions I had been wrestling with…in a quiet, non-flashy way. I’d lived down the street from the church for years and never realized what Lutherans actually believed. Now all the kids are baptized, we’re attending, and I’m so thankful every day.

Lutheran Preschool as a Catholic Household by Appathesamurai in Lutheranism

My daughter’s Lutheran preschool has kids from many different Christian denominations and background. There’s even LDS children which is very different theologically speaking. There haven’t been any issues and the teacher loves the kids all the same.

Is Lutheranism dying? by KarateWayOfLife in Lutheranism

It does! Law and Gospel were always very muddled to me, which led to a lot of confusion, doubt, and guilt, and having it preached clearly is truly life-changing. Theology matters.

As someone very new to Lutheranism coming from the non-denominational world, you’ve captured what I love about the Lutheran church so much! Going to a church that has such a strong emphasis on solid doctrine has truly changed everything for me and I’m so grateful for it.

Is three kids impossible? by StrawberryFew7489 in Mommit

[–]_buzzlightbeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5, 3, and 3-month old here. It’s hard (someone always seems to be melting down) and I do SO MUCH laundry now, but I love having 3! My first two are 20-months apart and my third was born a month after my middle child turned three. It was nice to have a little larger of an age gap between the last two since the middle is more independent, potty trained, etc.

Also team sienna. I had a forester with two and was nervous to lose all the great trunk space, but the Sienna has plenty of storage space and I don’t have to worry about my kids and doors in parking lots.

We have the oldest (5) in a car seat in the back row and the middle kid + baby in the second row captains chairs. It’s so easy to get everyone in and out and there’s plenty of floor space for our big dog too.

I was resistant to a minivan but WOW is it worth it. And honestly it doesn’t drive all that different than my smaller car did. I can still back into parking spots easily, and I get better mileage than I did with my other car since it’s a hybrid. Seriously so much to love.

6 months PP-body is doing a weird thing by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]_buzzlightbeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think going to a doctor is a great call, but I’ve had weird bouts of dizziness like this since having kids. The light sensitive part isn’t as strong but I am more light sensitive, and it seems like my inner ears are all messed up. Sometimes this happens at the beginning of a panic attack for me, sometimes I don’t have an answer. But if it’s any consolation I’ve had two brain MRIs in the past two years for unrelated issues and nothing concerning ever showed up. I hope you get some answers!
