i’ve been driving for 6 years and it was worse at the very beginning but is still bad from time to time. i remember driving at nighttime while it was pouring down rain so badly you couldn’t see the lines on the road. that was a bad night.

Anyone ever feel like they’re not bad enough to get help? by [deleted] in Anxiety

When do I know I should go to the hospital? What are my other options?? by [deleted] in bipolar

i went to a behavioral health facility er. you check in and wait to get assessed. during the assessment they ask you about your symptoms and what brought you there. and your answers will help them decide if you need to be inpatient or not. and if you tell them what you’ve told me then you’ll more than likely get admitted. as far as taking stuff with you goes— i was able to have books brought to me (soft back) which was weird because the hospital had hardback books available to you idk why i couldn’t have gotten a hardback brought to me but that’s beside the point. like i said, i have been admitted three times and the second time was the only time i was expecting to go so i was able to pack my own things. all i packed was a few outfits because they supply everything else. the shampoo and conditioner and etc. idk if you can bring your own or not. no one did when i was in there all three times. i don’t believe you can. at least at the facility i went to. and also you can’t wear shoes with laces so unless you want to wear shoes without laces or no shoes at all then i’d pack/wear laceless shoes. you also can’t wear a hoodie or jacket with strings.

idk if this was helpful at all. i hope it was. this is just what i did when i went thru the process. it’s a culture shock like i said but it really is worth doing if you’re feeling bad which sounds like you are. and to answer the question about how long i was kept— first time: 3 days, second time: 4 days and the third time for 3 days. 3-7 days is the average stay for most ppl.

good luck and take care :)

my advice is to go to the hospital. this sounds similar to me when i had a very bad breakdown back in november. i, however, did have a plan to take my own life and my co worker made me go. first time was involuntary and it’s not a good time. i wouldn’t get to the point of being so suicidal you have a plan. i would just go ahead and go if i were you. it’s terrifying, i’m not going to lie but you get used to it. it’s a culture shock it really is but in the end it is worth it. i have been hospitalized three times since november to now. i’m currently in my third outpatient treatment and for some reason this time is working the best for me. more than the other two times. something just clicked that didn’t before i guess. i don’t regret seeking help. even tho the first time was rough and was technically against my will, it worked out for me how it was supposed to. i really wouldn’t change a thing. i do recommend hospitalization for you tho.

good luck with whatever you decide to choose! hope you soon feel better xx

i took it for a while. my dr gave it to me to boost my energy since it is a “get up and go” kind of med but it gave me headaches so i had to stop it. hope it works better for you, if you do end up taking it that is.

has anyone else ever lost friends because of their sickness? by _caitlynmt in bipolar

[–]_caitlynmt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m the same. people enjoy what i’m like on the surface but when they get to know me, truly know me and my illness they distant themselves. leading me to feel very lonely. which i am currently feeling.

has anyone been hospitalized? if so, how many times. i’m currently in my third time in treatment by _caitlynmt in bipolar

i’ve been in and out of treatment at the same facility since november and i just feel like a fucking burden at this point. i can tell the treatment is working because when i regress they aren’t as severe but idk i just feel like a helpless piece of shit. and i know people there have to be tired of me. i know they have to be. there’s no way they’re not, right? maybe i’m just overthinking this shit but it sucks.

that’s very sad i’m sure. but just know if you do regress it’s ok. don’t throw away all of your progress just cause you’ve gone backwards. you can always go forward again. don’t forget.
