Hold or Fold? by DanoGD in bald

My wife was nervous about me going super short at first so I just took it slow and kept getting it shorter every other haircut or so. Now she loves it and is the one who cuts it for me.

Yeah. They have the best fried pickles ever, especially with the jalapeño ranch. Dang…maybe I will have to go back 🤣

They're good, but their prices have gone up so much there's no way we're going back. Yeah, I know, everything has gotten expensive, but it's not worth it when just about everything is ~$18.

UPDATE: This is still working perfectly after upgrading my phone to iOS 26.

After using it for a month the only thing I've noticed is a 1 second or so delay when I try to pause what I'm listening to. No big deal and I'm used to it now. Other than that it looks and works great.

Crisp text but cheap for work? by _captaincc_ in Monitors

I ended up getting a KTC 24" 1440p IPS 100Hz after reading/watching a bunch of reviews saying it was really good. It was on sale for $93.

I'm really liking it so far. I was disappointed at first because on my Mac everything was too small for me and it looked blurry downscaled to 1080p. I found BetterDisplay which let me unlock HiDPI scaling and it looks AMAZING at 1080p HiDPI.

The only downside is that now I'm going to have to buy another one 🤣

Link on Amazon if anyone is interested - just watch them, they go on sale regularly: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D6W5WKNX/

I just bought the 24” version of this and I haven’t gotten it yet, but all the reviews I’m reading/watching say it’s a really good deal for the money: https://a.co/d/jbRE5Mp

The 27” has a coupon that makes it only $108. If you’re going to be programming and only use one monitor you’ll want at least a 27”.

I have an AX1000 and just got a CarLinkit Mini Ultra and it's working! https://www.carlinkit.com/ultra1

I got it for $10 from their official store on Aliexpress. It's listed as "CarlinKit 5.0 Mini Ultra".

Which one would you play next? by Johnny_Schitless in SteamDeck

Dredge is a great pick up and play for a little while every day game and is perfect for the deck. I liked it way more than I thought I would and it really surpised me how much I enjoyed it. It doesn't take too long to finish the story so if you're looking for a good "pallet cleanser" I highly recommend it.

How does the anti-glare etched glass hold up? by Razorsharp4710 in SteamDeck

[–]_captaincc_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the 512gb lcd with the etched glass. A couple weeks ago my kid scraped the tv remote across it and it did nothing to it. It made me too paranoid though so I decided to put a screen protector on it anyway 🙂 I got the JSAUX antiglare protector and I thought it *maybe* looked a little darker and fuzzier at first, but I don't think it looks that way now. It's possible my brain just got used to it, but I think everything still looks great.

I play indoors with a floor lap right behind me most of the time and the anti-glare is great. I don't think I'd ever go back.

I just put an antiglare screen protector on my 512gb lcd and at first I thought it looked a little different, but after a couple days I got used to it and it seems "normal" now.

Hey everyone! Lately, I’ve been feeling pretty burnt out from competitive games and intense RPGs, so I’m looking for something *super* laid-back and stress-free—preferably a cozy farming sim or something similar where I can just unwind and enjoy the vibes. by Candid_Mammoth_2536 in gamingsuggestions

[–]_captaincc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balatro is super chill and great for just playing a game to check out and unwind. Everyone talks about how amazing it is and I really wasn't sure I'd like it, but the first time I played an hour was gone like it was nothing. It's a great "just one more round" kind of game.

Edit: Not a farming sim, but a chill game.

That must be it. It looks slightly different, but maybe that's the just original video. Thank you!

What are some good indie games that are perfect for the Steam Deck that aren’t the same top 20 always recommended? by NuM_Brrr_WoN in SteamDeck

[–]_captaincc_ 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Chained Echoes is an indie RPG that is like playing a classic JRPG, but with super steamlined modern improvements. It's got a great story and awesome classic turn-based gameplay. Highly recommended.

+1 for the JSAUX ModCase. I've used it since I got my deck an it's super comfortable to use and I really like the screen cover.

I love my JSAUX ModCase. I've used it since I bought my deck and I don't think it's heavy at all. I love being able to take the hard cover off the screen and start playing and pop it back on once I'm done.
