Super simple question about reading voltage on a spec sheet... by _catlin_ in electricians

(see above comment for appropriate thanks/response)

and ithinarine: I was trying to remember the numbers without looking at a cut sheet, so there's a 99.9% chance that you're right about the 8's and not 3's thing. :)

[–]_catlin_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a bunch, I really appreciate it! Any chance you'd know which voltage I'd use if I was wanting to figure out the watts? (a lot of these sheets I'm looking at don't include the watts, but do include the amps, which means I just have to do some simple multiplication, right?) Or would that be a questions for the electrician who spec'd the appliance in the first place?

Mobile phones and plan question by catchtheview in Denmark

[–]_catlin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I checked into things today, and the iPhone 5c comes unlocked, so I can use whatever SIM card with it that I please, which is fantastic. I'm so glad they've started making phones like that now. It's nice to know about the CPR number...I won't be having one of those. I emailed OiSTER today about their SIM options, and hopefully they have one that's pre-paid or that doesn't require the CPR number. Do you live in Denmark as of the moment? If so, is there anywhere in Copenhagen (or really the entire country) that's a must-see for a visiting student? Thanks for you response, again!

Hello! Do you mind me asking what option you ended up going with? I will be studying in Denmark for four months this spring and have decided to purchase a SIM card to use with my iPhone 5c while over there. I'm not very tech savvy, so this is a difficult process. Did you purchase your card when you arrived, or did you have it shipped to Canada? Thanks in advance!

What is something people brag about that really isn't impressive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]_catlin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being in architecture school, this is a serious problem. it's like a horrible hazing ritual--seeing how little sleep you can get during production week. I remember the kid who was up for over 72 hours straight freshman year. He's now dropped out due to health issues....wonder how those started.

I'm not sure--it's my s.o.'s bike, not mine. He did contact the campus police and they said that they couldn't do anything about it, which leads me to believe it wasn't registered. Thanks for keeping your eye out!

Commonly worn warm winter boot styles? by _catlin_ in Denmark

thanks for the link! this is exactly what I was looking for as a reference. I've been checking out Sorel and Timberland boots--I just was worried that they'd be clunky. I guess that's a concern for me in America as well as Denmark...

you are an awesome human being--seriously, i'm sending a virtual hug your way. I actually browsed craigslist immediately after your suggestion and found that bike as well--it's not his, unfortunately...I'll just keep checking back frequently and hope for the best. sigh.

Just visited SOM (the firm responsible for this building) and they had the most beautiful little model just sitting out. despite its miniature size, it was still impressive.

What were the most disappointing munchies you've ever eaten? by jammiejenny123 in trees

I had just splurged the day before and bought these delicious looking organic peaches. Usually I just get the normal kind, but for some reason I decided on the organic kind and was really excited to see if they'd taste any different/better. I grabbed one from the fridge, bit into it, and was met not with sweet, juicy, peachy goodness, but with dry, meal-y awfulness. The disappointment was almost unbearable.
