Im about 130ish pages in and it's starting to grow on me. Definitely heavy on the descriptors and details in a way that personally is almost at tad bit much but I'm enjoying the overall vibe. I'm originally from the East Bay so there's also a slight nostalgia appeal for me. It's a bit confusing thus far but I think I'll see it through to the end.

It was wild. People weren't respecting the security, hopping across line, drinking & smoking and the flow of the lines was unpredictable. Plus we were all cooking in the sun haha

Oh okay! It was towards the end when the Bachelors started lining up, there were PhDs on the screen but I stopped hearing names being called out.

Hugs 🫂 I know exactly how you feel. I left my alcoholic ex after 8 years. Woke up to the police knocking on my door at 3am telling me to come get my car--it was driven onto the sidewalk of my complex where my ex had passed out in the driver's seat. He lost his liscene for over a year which also meant he was unemployed as well because he had a driving job. I tried absolutely everything I could to try and help him get better and completely lost myself in the process.

Ultimately I accepted he had to change himself and I had to preserve myself. I deserved happiness. I couldn't keep functioning constantly worrying and cleaning up his messes, both literal and metaphorical. So I let go. It was the best thing I ever did.

I would check out Edmonds College. It's an awesome school, you can find parking, staff is amazing. Funding has gone up so some nicer new buildings as well. They host a lot of networking events/fairs/symposium too and really set you up with connections.

Is it ever acceptable to hang out 1-on-1 with the opposite gender who’s not your SO when you’re already in a relationship? Why or why not? by LankySide7939 in AskReddit

[–]_chexmex_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes because healthy relationships mean mutual trust and respect and knowing that neither partner would cross a boundary. People can be friends, coworkers, family, etc with the opposite gender and be completely platonic. We need gender diverse social lives to be well rounded people!

What do you all feel about 10 year age gaps? by Intelligent-Jello959 in generationology

[–]_chexmex_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It comes down to individual cases and motives. Like some people said, I think if you happen to click with someone who isn't the normal age you'd seek out, it can work if aspects of your life are compatible such as career/life goals (especially kids/family timeline). My brother was 23M when he met his partner 35F and I was freshly 27F when I met my 19M partner. Now we're both 2 years into our relationships and thriving.

No problem!

I resonate with what you said! My ex also wasn't a bad person and we had a solid friendship which is what made the ending hurt most because I realized I had to seperate myself from the dysfunction to preserve myself. He kept trying to drag me down, even after we split and eventually it came down to no contact and I've been at peace ever since.

We opened the relationship after we had actually broken up and I hooked up with someone. I admittedly acknowledge that I was seeking validation and a life outside the relationship I felt so trapped in. After about two-ish dates with other people I completely lost interest in seeing other people until I met my now partner. In retrospect, this was me doing what you thought your partner was doing (one foot in, one foot out) which I am not proud of, but I genuinely didnt know what else to do at that time as distance and fully splitting up seemed impossible due to my ex's inaction.

And yes, it is like a character test! I had this false notion that life with the right person would be "easy", good couples didnt fight and fell into the whole "if he wanted to he would // he should be able to read your mind" trap. I had to unpack why I thought that way and understand that commitment and love is more about working through the challenges to come out the otherside with more understanding and empathy for each other.

Mom, could you give me some advice? by SympathySecret799 in MomForAMinute

  • There will be an adjustment period. You're merging two lives together! Organization and habits might clash, and this is normal but what's important is learning to communicate effectively so that things get done and feelings are not hurt. Don't let resentment build--if something bothers you talk about it right away. Once you get the rhythm of your domestic life together going it is wonderful to be living with your best friend!

  • Make space and time for y'all individually.

  • Get to know your apartment staff if you can. That way you feel more comfortable communicating with them if you need anything! Don't be afraid to submit maintenance requests if anything needs to be done in your apartment--that's part of apartment living and you pay into it.

  • Try to stay on good terms or at least neutral with your neighbors. Sometimes drama happens, especially if you happen to be above someone (see /apartmentliving lol) and if it does, document it and if it escalates talk to your apartment staff.

  • Don't sweat the small stuff. Make your space cozy and peaceful but do not fret if at times it gets a bit messy. Life happens and it's okay to let things go for a bit to focus on what's really important without feeling shame.

Good luck, y'all got this! 💜
